Amendment to GO 17 Aasara Pension, G.O.Ms.No.23, Dated: 25-11-2014: Social Security Pensions – Aasara Pensions – Social Safety Net Strategy – Implementation of Aasara Social Security Pension Scheme for Persons who are Old & infirm, Widows, Differently Abled, Weavers, Toddy Tappers & with HIV-AIDS in the state.

Reference: G.O.Ms.No.17, PR&RD (RD.I) Dept., dated 05.11.2014. In the G.O read above orders have been issued enhancing the existing Social Security Pensions (Aasara Pensions) wherein detailed comprehensive guidelines for Aasara pensions and eligibility criteria for sanction of the pension in supersession of all order issued in the past on the subject .

Government have reviewed the eligibility criteria prescribed in the guidelines keeping in view of requests from people of different sectors, and after careful consideration hereby issue the following amendment to the said order:

AMENDMENT (Amendment to GO 17 Aasara Pension): In Para 4 under eligibility criteria (III) the words occurred in (B) Socio-economic criteria “The persons belonging to the households fulfilling one or more of the following conditions listed below shall not be eligible for Social Security Pensions” shall be substituted and read as follows;

“The persons belonging to the households fulfilling one or more of the following conditions and whose annual household income is more than Rs.1.50 lakhs in Rural areas and Rs.2.00 lakhs in Urban areas listed below shall not be eligible for Social Security Pensions”

  1. In Para 4 under eligibility criteria (III) the words occurred in (C) “The households under the following socio- economic criteria and falling in the above age group may be considered for inclusion and hence eligible for a pension, provided they are not in the exclusion list” shall be substituted and read as follows;

“The households under the following socio-economic criteria and falling in the above age group and whose annual household income is less than Rs.1.50 lakhs in Rural areas and Rs.2.00 lakhs in Urban areas may be considered for inclusion and hence eligible for a pension, provided they are not in the exclusion list”

  1. In Para 4 under eligibility criteria (III) (C) after condition vii a new condition viii shall be added;
    “viii self employed artisans, hawkers and vendors engaged on petty business”
  2. In Para 4 (iv) Requirements for the sanction of a pension a new clause viii shall be added after clause vii as under: “viii. Where income is the basis for the sanction of a pension, the applicant shall submit an income certificate obtained from the Tahsildar concerned”.
