Government have announced “Navarathnalu” comprising of various welfare and developmental programmes to achieve this objective. As part of the Navarathnalu, enhancement of pension amount and reduction in the age criteria for old age pension is a major welfare measure to ameliorate the hardships of the poor and vulnerable sections of the society particularly the old and infirm, widows, and persons with disability to secure a dignified life.
In pursuit of this overarching goal, in spite of the challenging financial conditions, orders were issued vide G.O.Ms.No.103 Dated: 30.05.2019 enhancing the Social Security Pensions amount for old Age Persons, widow, Toddy Tappers, weavers, Single women, Fishermen, ART (PLHIV) Persons, Traditional Cobblers to Rs.2500/- per month, Disabled persons,Transgender and Dappu Artists to Rs.3,000/- per month,
And also for people affected with Chronic Kidney Disease who are undergoing Dialysis both Government and network hospitals to Rs.10,000/- per month. The enhanced scale of pension came into effect from June, 2019 payable from 1st July, 2019 onwards.

YSR pension Kanuka Amount distribution: The AP CM is implementing the welfare schemes with utmost dedication giving priority to the poor has started distribution of YSR pension Kanuka across the state for this month. The government has released Rs.1594.66 crores to 62.69 lakh pensioners and the village volunteers are distributing pensions by going door to door from early in the morning.
The distribution of YSR Pension Kanuka will continue till the last beneficiary received the amount. It is likely that distribution would end in a single day. However, the government provides pension to the missed beneficiaries on the following day.
YSR Pension Kanuka Scheme
Eligibility Criteria: Eligibility criteria common to all Pensions. The proposed beneficiary shall be from BPL family holding white ration card. He/she shall be a local resident of the district. He/she are not covered under any other Pension Scheme.
Old Age Pension: Old age persons, both male and female, who are 60 years of age or above and are destitute (with little or no means of subsistence and no family or relative to depend upon).
Weavers Pension: Weaver is 50 years of age or above and destitute. Widow Pension As per the Marriage Act 18 years and above.
Disabled Pension: Disabled persons having a minimum of 40% disability and No age limit.
Toddy Pension: 50 years and above. Members of Toddy Co-operative Societies (TCS) or to an individual tapper under the Tree For Tappers (TFT) scheme and who have completed 50 years of age as on 1.2.2009.
Art Pension: No age limit. 6 months continuous treatment on ART (Anti Retroviral Therapy).
CKDU Pension: No age limit.Patients under going Continuous Kidney Dialysis(Chronic Kidney Disease of Unknown etiology).
Transgender Pension: Transgender is 18 years of age or above. Fishermen Pension Fisherman is 50 years of age or above. Traditional Cobblers Pension Traditional Cobblers is above 40 years of age.
Single Women Pension: Married women who are separated / deserted shall have above 35 years of age and the separation period shall be more than 1 year as on date of sanction of pension. Unmarried women who are having 30 years and above of age in Rural and for Urban 35 years and above of age and no support of the family.
Dappu Artist Pension: Dappu Artists is above 50 years of age.
Pension Amount: The benefit under each pension for OAP, Single Women, Weavers, Widow, Fisherman, Toddy Tappers, PLHIV (ART Pensions), Traditional Cobblers will be Rs.2250/- per month and for Disabled, Transgender, Dappu Artists pensions will be Rs.3000/- per month.CKDU pensions will be Rs.10000/- per month.
Selection Of Pensioners: The eligible list will be uploaded by the MPDO/Municipal Commissioner logins to DRDA for sanction.
Eligibility Criteria For Determination Of BPL Households: The fundamental criterion to get eligibility for pension being the Below Poverty Line (BPL) status, Government have decided to examine the following factors for inclusion and exclusion of pensions for effective implementation of the scheme.
- Priority Shall Be Given To
- ST households particularly PVTG Households in Agency areas
- SC households
- Practicing Artisans (Weavers, Toddy Tappers, Barbers, Washer men,Potters, Blacksmith, Carpenter, Cobbler, Animal herder, Village Artistes etc) and other Back ward Classes
- Daily labourers (Daily wage labourers, Agricultural Labourers, Migrated labourers)
- Nomadic Tribes having no permanent residence
- Households with destitute/orphans
- Households with Disabled
- Households of Manual Scavengers
- Other poor Households
- State/Central Government and PSU Employees
- Government employee pensioners (including PSU, Central Govt etc)
- Income tax payers
- Land owners having more than 2.5 Acres of wet and 5 Acres Dry or both wet and dry together more than 5 Acres (except ST in scheduled areas in ITDAs)
- Outsourced Employees
- Private salaried (monthly salaried)
- Owner of car
- Freedom Fighter pension holders
What is eligibility criteria for getting YSR Pension Kanuka Card?
To extend the Social Security Pensions, Government have revised the eligibility norms: Total family income should be less than Rs. 10,000 per month in rural areas and Rs. 12,000/- per month in urban areas. Total land holding of the family should be less than 3 acres of wet land or 10 acres of dry land or 10 acres of both wet and dry land together.
Monthly electricity consumption should be less than 300 units. No family member should be Government employee or pensioner. Family should not own 4 wheeler (Taxi, Auto, Tractors Exempted). No family member should pay income tax. In urban areas family who owns no property or less than 750 square feet built up area.
Enhancement of Old Age/Widow/Disable Category Pensions in AP, Government of Andhra Pradesh has issued Government Order No. 113 on 18th June, 2014. In this order Government has been implementing various Pension Schemes for the most needy and vulnerable people i.e., persons with old age, widows, people with disabilities and weavers to provide them succor.
Government of Andhra Pradesh have decided to enhance the existing rate of pension to Rs.1,000/- per month to the old age persons, widows, weavers, toddy tappers, ART cases and Disabled persons with 40% to 79% degree of disability, and Rs.1,500/- per month to the persons with 80% and above degree of disability to provide more secured life to them.

Government after careful examination of the matter have decided to enhance the existing rate of pension to Rs.1,000/- per month to the old age persons, widows, weavers, toddy tappers, ART cases and Disabled persons with 40% to 79% degree of disability, and Rs.1,500/- per month to the persons with 80% and above degree of disability to provide more secured life to them.
The pensions enhanced in respect of various categories as stated at para two above shall come into effect from September 2014, and to be paid from 2.10.2014.
The Chief Executive Officer, Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty, A.P., Hyderabad shall take further necessary action in the matter accordingly.
