Farmers all over the State will begin receiving Rythu Bandhu assistance in about a week. Officials from the Agriculture Department are planning to deposit the money into the farmers’ bank accounts during the third week of this month.
This coincides with the start of the Kharif season and the arrival of the monsoon. Rythu Bandhu has been a significant source of financial support for farmers, helping them invest in their crops and avoid relying on money lenders for the past five years.
The number of farmers benefiting from Rythu Bandhu is expected to increase significantly during this year’s Kharif season. The State government is determined to provide assistance of Rs. 5000 per acre to tribal farmers who cultivate podu lands, just like farmers in the plains. The administration is currently in the middle of the process to make this happen.
In all districts, the District Collectors have been instructed to issue land ownership documents (pattas) for podu lands. They have also been directed to help farmers open bank accounts in their names so that they can receive Rythu Bandhu payments.
Telangana Rythu Bandhu disbursement
The disbursement of Rythu Bandhu financial assistance for the Vaanakalam (Kharif) season, began in the State on 26-06-2023. On the first day, Rs 642.52 crore was deposited directly into the bank accounts of 22,55,081 farmers who have less than one acre land.
The State government issued orders for release of Rs.7,720.29 crore benefiting around 70 lakh farmers under the 11th edition of Rythu Bandhu scheme for the Vaanakalam season of 2023-24. Till this season, the Rythu Bandhu scheme will have contributed a total of Rs 72,910 crore to farmers’ accounts.
Hereafter, an additional 5 lakh new beneficiaries including 1.5 lakh Podu farmers owning 4 lakh acres of Podu lands, will receive Rs 10,000 per acre under the scheme.

When was launched the Scheme?
The scheme was announced by the Chief Minister of Telangana, K. Chandrashekhar Rao at Farmers Coordination Committee (Rythu Samanvaya Samithi) conference at Jayashankar Agriculture University on 25 February 2018. An allocation of ₹12,000 crores was made in 2018-19 state budget.[6] It was launched on 10 May 2018 at Dharmarajpalli village in Karimnagar. If a farmer has a lot of field such that they are due more than Rs. 49,000 then they get a second check for the remaining amount.

Investment is the surest way to enhance agriculture productivity and also income to the farmers, besides breaking the vicious cycle of rural indebtedness. In order to ensure that the farmers do not fall again into the debt trap,
