Sub: School, State & National Level Painting Competition on Water Conservation for the year 2013
The Ministry of Water Resources (MoWR), Government of India (GOI) is conducting the 4th Nationwide painting competition on Water Conservation for Students of 6th, 7 th & 8 th Classes at School, State and National levels as a part of its vigorous campaign on Water Conservation to create wide spread awareness among Students, the Future pillars of the Nation. The Principal Secretary (PE & SSA) and State Project Director, Rajiv Vidya Mission, Govt. of A.P. had accepted our request to involve maximum number of schools and students in the Painting Competition.
Subsequently, the Office of State Project Director, RVM had conveyed this information to all DEOs and PO’s of Rajiv Vidya Mission vide Proc. Rc.No. 469/RVM (SSA)/C8/2013 dated 24.09.2013 to take further necessary action for conducting the School level painting competition in all High Schools and Upper Primary Schools in the respective district under their jurisdiction. We also requested to all DEOs and POs of RVM to conduct the School level competition and sent the guidelines.
As per United Nations estimates, around 700 million people in 43 countries are suffering from Water Scarcity and by year 2025, around 1.8 billion people will be living in countries with absolute water Scarcity. India accounts only 4 percent of fresh water resources, sustaining 17 percent of population and the water crisis is largely looming over in the ensuing years. Sensing the urgent need, the Ministry of Water Resources, Govt. Of India now largely focus on adopting Comprehensive Water conservation and Management practices and creation of wide spread awareness among the general populace in the Country.
Central Ground water Board under Ministry of Water Resources had initiated various Public outreach programs through different means. The Painting Competition to School Children is one of such major initiative to create wide spread awareness among Student Community. The main aim of the painting competition is to sensitize the society through student community towards the issues of water and need for its conservation. This 4th Nationwide painting competition assumes much significance, as Govt. of India has declared this year as “WATER CONSERVATION YEAR-2013”.
In this regard, it is requested to conduct the School level painting competition in respective Mandals under your jurisdiction. The guidelines are enclosed for circulation among Headmasters of Schools. Though it was mentioned, the last date to receive the paintings as 25.10.2013 in the guidelines, the paintings will be accepted up to 31st October, 2013 keeping in view the half-yearly exams and Dasara Vacations.
