DR to Telangana Pensioners
The government of Telangana has recently announced a new Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners in the state. This increase in DR will provide much-needed financial relief to the state’s pensioners, many of whom rely on their pensions as their primary source of income.
The new DR will be effective from June 1, 2023, and will be paid to all pensioners, including those who are retired from government service and those who are receiving family pensions. The DR will be calculated as a percentage of the basic pension and will be updated every quarter based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for Industrial Workers.
The new DR rate for pensioners in Telangana is 5%, which is an increase of 1% over the previous rate. This means that pensioners will now receive an additional 5% of their basic pension as DR. For example, if a pensioner’s basic pension is Rs 10,000, they will now receive an additional Rs 500 as DR, bringing their total pension to Rs 10,500.
This increase in DR will provide a much-needed boost to the income of pensioners in Telangana, many of whom have been struggling to make ends meet due to the high cost of living. The state government has also announced that the DR will be reviewed every quarter and will be increased if the CPI for Industrial Workers increases.
The government of Telangana has also announced that the arrears for the new DR will be paid to pensioners from June 1, 2023. This means that pensioners will receive the arrears for the increased DR along with their regular pension for the month of January 2023.
In conclusion, the state government of Telangana has taken a positive step to support pensioners in the state by announcing a new DR rate. The increase in DR will provide much-needed financial relief to the state’s pensioners and help them to meet the rising cost of living.
The government has also announced that the DR will be reviewed every quarter and will be increased if the CPI for Industrial Workers increases which is a welcome move.
