Swachhta Pakhwada Action Plan & Activities for Schools 2020: Observance of Swachhta Pakhwada during the period from 1st to 15th September 2019. Regarding observance of Swachhta Pakhwada during the period from 1st to 15th September 2019 (Teachers Day on 5th September 2019). Action Plan for Swachhta Pakhwada i.e. date-wise calendar of suggested activities during the Swachhta Pakhwada is shared herewith for wide dissemination up to school level.

It is reiterated that action taken in this regard may kindly be communicated to this Ministry by 15th September 2019. Photographs, videos, film, etc. together with highlights of the Pakhwada may be uploaded on Shagun portal every day during the Pakhwada

All the States/UTs have been advised to observe Swachhta Pakhwada activities in schools, during 15th September 2019 and upload them on Google drive on day to day basis. In accordance with the decision taken in a meeting chaired by the Cabinet Secretary, it is also suggested to organize camps based on the Swachhta theme in the villages by schools/educational institutions. The services of NSS, NCC, Scouts & Guides student volunteers, for mobilizing citizens to participate in activities during the Pakhwada may also be utilized for this. These volunteers could focus on tourist spots and Archeological monuments during the Pakhawada.

All the Mandal Educational Officers and Headmasters of high schools in the District are hereby informed that in the reference cited, the Commissioner & Director of School Education, TS, Hyderabad has informed that on the first day of Swachhta Pakhwada program everybody in the school i.e., teachers, students, and non-teaching staff and take oath in the school prayer and take photos on pledge activity and submit to the state office by 04.00 PM and duly communicating copies of Swachhta Pakhwada pledge and day wise proforma.

While enclosing the copies all the MEOs and Headmasters of high schools are requested to adhere to the instructions and submit photos of pledge activity to this office to deomahbad@gmail.com mail id to take necessary action immediately.

1.9.2019 to 2.9.2019 (Sunday and Monday)
Swachhata Shapath Day

  • Swachhata Shapath function may be organized wherein all students and teachers/staff may participate. Children to speak about Swachhata in the morning assembly’ Class exercise, where every child will promise to take up one activity for personal/school/community/home cleanliness.
  • State Education Minister/ SecretarieV District Collectors/ District Education Officer/ School Inspectors etc. to address the school children.
  • Swachhata awareness message to be posted on the website of the Department/organization/Schools.
  • Electronic banners may be created and uploaded on the departmental/state web portals to highlight the observance of the Swachhata Pakhwada and create awareness for Swachhata.
  • Upload the number of students who took Shapath and the number of schools that participated in Google tracker and photos, videos and publicity material on Google drive.

3.9.2019 (Tuesday)
Swachhata Awareness Day
✱ Holding a meeting of SMCs/PI to highlight the importance of cleanliness and sanitation among children, parents, and teachers; and to encourage and inspire them for hygiene and sanitation in school as well as home.
✱ Teachers to inspect sanitary facilities in each and every comer of school/ institution and make a proposal/plan for the upkeep of the facilities.
✱ Extensive cleaning of toilets, MDM kitchen, classrooms, fans, doors, windows, bushes in the campus and surrounding area to be undertaken.
✱ Organizing camp activities to promote behavioral change to keep surrounding clean with special focus on awareness regarding plastic pollution, open defecation, deforestation, water wastage, dust/smoke-free air, and other anti-environmental practices.
✱ Upload number of schools participated in Google tracker and photos, videos and publicity material on Google drive.

4.9.2019 to 5.9.2019 (Wednesday -Thursday)
Community Outreach
✦ All teachers may visit nearby villages to address the local communities on Swachhata with a special focus on sustaining toilet usage and taking up waste management work in their areas. They may also sensitize the local community to stop wasting water resources and to make them aware of water conservation and ongoing Jal Shakti Abhiyan.
✦ ‘Teachers’ Day may be celebrated appropriately in each school.
✦ The increased focus may be given on community participation for the Swachhata Abhiyan
in schools/institutions and teachers may also be involved in undertaking cleanliness
and awareness drives in nearby areas.
✦ ‘Teachers and students in association with local representatives should propagate the theme of swachhata pakhwada among the public in local areas. Sloganeering with School March.

6.9.2019 (Friday)
Green School Drive
✤ Create awareness/importance of Telco Clubs in schools.
✤ Every school may arrange for dustbins. Dustbin with Blue and Green-color must be used for Recycled and Unrecyclable waste respectively in view of making children aware of the classification of wastes.
✤ Planting of trees in and around school premises and encourage children for gardening. Reuse of waste material.
✤ Initiatives to curb the greenhouse effect. Weeding out/recording of the old files, records as per the procedure.
✤ All kinds of waste material like broken furniture. unusable equipment, defunct vehicles, etc. should be completely removed from the premises of schools/institutions.
✤ Upload number of schools participated in Google tracker and photos, videos and publicity material on Google drive.

7.9.2019 (Saturday)
Swachhata Participation Day
✬ Essay/Quiz competition for students on cleanliness and hygiene practices in schools
✬ Painting competition on Swachhata.
✬ Debates on Swachhata with emphasis on Gandhi Ji and Swachhata.
✬ The skit, Poem-making on Swachhata.
✬ Upload number of schools participated on Google tracker and photos, videos and publicity material on Google drive
✬ Upload number of students who participated in Painting and essay writing competition on the tracker and 10 High-quality photos/seans and samples of good painting and good essays selected per State on Google drive.

8.9.2019 to 9.9.2019 (Sunday and Monday)
Hand Wash Day
✶ Create Awareness on the need for proper hand wash in daily life
✶ Children should be taught the proper method of hand washing after eating.
✶ Barrier-free access to the drinking water and toilet facilities for Divyang students may be reviewed and ensured
✶ Check wastage of water
✶ Water from hand washing unit to be channeled to school gardens
✶ Upload number of schools participated in Google tracker and photos, videos and publicity material on Google drive.

10.9.2019 (Tuesday
Personal Hygiene Day
✿ Audiovisual program to be undertaken to motivate students/employees and others for maintaining cleanliness
✿ Students will learn proper way of cutting and keeping nails clean.
✿ Learning about direct impact of hygiene practices on overall health.
✿ Supplementary Book material on Hygiene
✿ Awareness on menstrual hygiene among girls of Classes VI to XII

11.9.2019 (Wednesday)
Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) Day
❁ Launch of “Swachhata Hi Seva” Day 2019 involving all students in the school.
❁ Class III-V students to participate in handwashing with soap campaign Shramdaan by students of class VI-VIII within the school.
❁ Shramdaan by students of class IX-XII by participating in outdoor Swachhata campaigns.
❁ Upload number of students who participated in shramdaan and the number of schools participated in Google tracker and photos, videos and publicity material on Google drive.

12.9.2019 (Thursday)
Swachhata School Exhibition Day
❂ Photographs, paintings, cartoons, slogans, etc. on Swachhata activities may be displayed in schools. Parents and community members may be invited to attend the exhibition
❂ The state may document some of these exhibitions.
❂ Making artifacts using local recycled-raw material for storage of waste ie, artists dustbins using local skills promoting their culture
❂ Upload number of schools participated on Google tracker and photos, videos and publicity material on Google drive.
❂ Top 3 entries each of the painting and essay writing competitions at the district level to be uploaded on Google drive.

13.9.2019 (Friday)
Swachhata Action Day
✾ Convene Bal Sansad/Sabha especially to discuss the Swachhata Pakhwada activities in the school and suggest new activities that can be taken up by the school.
✾ Create awareness among students on all aspects of Swachhata personal, physical, mental, environmental societal etc.
✾ Competitions can be held in districts/blocks balusters, for clean and well-maintained premises and toilets in schools
✾  Checking of water storage/portability of water in
✾ Students will be taught the hygienic manner of using toilets and drinking water facilities
✾ Upload number of schools participated on Google tracker and photos, videos and publicity material on Google drive

14.9.2019 to 15.9.2019 Saturday and Sunday)
Letter Writing Day
✪ Children to write letters to local Panchayat/SMC/other authorities for maintenance of their school buildings, school toilets and drinking water in schools
✪ Children to write to their parents regarding what they have learned in the past few days during the Swachhta Pakhwada and what they would want their parents to do.
✪ Some of these letters should be documented by each state and sent to MHRD

Prize Distribution Day
✽ Prize distribution for the participation of children, teachers, and parents in competitions viz. Painting, Essay, Debate, and Quiz to encourage Swachhata.
✽ All Schools/educational institutions may sum up their activities and work undertaken during the Pakhwada and select the best activity for forwarding to district/state authority for uploading on the website i.c. in public domain
✽ Upload number of schools participated in Google tracker and photos, videos and publicity material on Google drive.
✽ Top 3 winning entries each of painting and essay writing competitions at State level to be uploaded on Google Drive

Swachhta Shapath Day
– Swachhta awareness message to be posted on the website of the Department/Organisations/Schools. Swachhta Shapath function may be organized on the very first day of the Pakhwada i.e. 1st September 2017, wherein all students and teachers/staff may participate.
– Class exercise, where every child will promise to take up one activity for personal/ school/ community/ home cleanliness.

Swachhta Awareness Day
– Holding a meeting of SMCs/PTAs or between parents and teachers on second. day of the pakhwada to highlight the importance of cleanliness and sanitation among children and teachers; and to encourage and inspire them to continue with the good practices for hygiene and sanitation in school as well as home.
– Children to speak about swachhta in morning assembly.
– Class Quiz on Swachhta

Cleanliness maintenance and planning day:
– Teachers to inspect sanitary facilities in each and every corner of school/institution and make a proposal/plan for the upkeep of the facilities.
– Drive to clean schools/institutes on a large scale with the help of students/teachers/staff.

Hand Wash Day:
– Children should be taught a proper method of hand washing before eating.
– Teachers and students in association with local representatives should propagate the theme of the Pakhwada among citizens in near areas.

Personal Hygiene Day:
– Audiovisual program to be undertaken to motivate students/employees and others for maintaining cleanliness.
– Learning impact on Health from hygiene practices.
– Supplementary Book material on Hygiene.

Toilet Awareness Day:
 -Students will be taught the hygienic manner of ofusing toilets.
– Schools may include Swachhta on the agenda of the meeting of their School.
– Management Committees, which may be organized during this period:
Check wastage of water. Water from Handwashing unit to be channeled in gardens.

Community Awareness Day:
– The increased focus may be given on community participation for the Swachhta Abhiyan in schools/institutions and teachers may also be involved in undertaking cleanliness and awareness drives in nearby areas.

– Children to write letters to Sarpanch, SMC Members for maintenance of school Toilets and Schools.
– Children write to their parents regarding what they have learned in the past few days and what they want their parents to do. Some of these letters should be documented by each state and sent to MHRD.
– The District Collectors in their State/UT, who are the ex officio Member-Secretary of district Level Committee for SSA/RMSA/MDM, may hold a meeting of the District Level Committee chaired by the local Hon’ble Member of Parliament, to further propagate the message of the Pakhwada across the society.

Meeting Government Day:
– State Education Minister/Secretaries/District Collectors/District Education
Officers/School Inspectors etc. to address the State school children.
– A “Slam Book” of School with experiences during this cleanliness journey with Photographs, messages from Children. To ensure participation of all children, one page per child may be allotted to fill their “Swachh Moments”.
– All Schools/educational institutions may sum up their activities and work undertaken during the Pakhwada and select the best activity for forwarding to district /state authority for uploading on the website i.e. in the public domain.
