Government has accorded permission to take up digital lessons through TATA Class Edge in all the Residential Educational Institutions under Tribal Welfare Department from this academic year onwards in the reference of (1)From the Secretary, Gurukulam, Hyd office Note No Nil, Dt.22-04-16 and (2)From the Secretary, Gurukulam, Hyd,Lr.Rc.No.394/D1/Acad./2016, Dt.02-05-2016.
Government of Andhra Pradesh has been implementing various developmental programs for the welfare of Scheduled Tribes in the state of Andhra Pradesh. A detailed Review cum Orientation Workshop has been held by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh on 24.03.2016. The Public Representatives from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes along with the Departmental Staff and Field Staff have participated in the said Workshop. The Workshop has discussed to implementation of various programs thread bare and has come up with various recommendations for improving the efficacy of the programs and effective and timely delivery of services.
One such recommendation is to utilize technology for delivery of quality education in all Residential Schools for the benefit of ST students.
In the reference 1st read above the Secretary (FAC), Gurukulam has stated that the TATA Class Group Unit called TATA Class EDGE has approached the Dept., and they have agreed to provide their interactive educational interface, Class EdgeTM to the Residential Schools of Tribal Welfare Department at free of cost along with initial training to a mutually agreed number of Officers and to provide support on the programme for an initial period of 5 academic years.
In the ref. 2nd read above, the Secretary Gurukulam has further stated that Gurukulam has to procure Hardware for installation of Class Edge. The estimation cost per Institution towards procurement of Hardware such as Projectors, Big Screens etc. is about Rs.90,000/-. Apart from the hardware equipment, there is a need to organize training programmes to the teachers to learn the digital content presentation as well as for ongoing maintenance of Hardware and Networking with the support of TATA Class Edge. The Secretary Gurukulam has stated that necessary budget is available with Gurukulam to meet the expenditure for implementation of TATA Class EDGE in Tribal Welfare Educational Institutions.
The Secretary (FAC) Gurukulam has therefore requested the Govt. to accord permission to take up Digital Lessons through TATA Class EDGE in all TW Educational Institutions.
Govt. after careful examination has felt that the project needs to be implemented in all the Residential Educational Institutions under Tribal Welfare Department for better educational achievements. There are about (609) Institutions including the Hostels that are converted into Residential Schools and the total budget required will be about Rs.5.49 crores. The Hardware requirement in terms of Projectors and Screens can be purchased from TSP funds of Tribal Welfare Department by following proper procurement procedure.
In the light of the above, Government hereby accord permission to take up digital lessons through TATA Class Edge in all the Residential Educational Institutions under Tribal Welfare Department from this academic year onwards. The DTW, Hyderabad and Secretary (FAC) Gurukulam shall take necessary action accordingly.
