The University Grants Commission (UGC) has entrusted the responsibility of conducting UGC NET to NTA. UGC-NET is a test to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for ‘Assistant Professor’ and ‘Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor’ in Indian universities and colleges.

Conduct of UGC NET June Exam 2020: National Testing Agency will be conducting ICAR Examination AIEEA-UG/PG and AICE-JRF/SRF (Ph.D.) 2020-21 on 16, 17, 22 and 23 September 2020.
In view of ICAR Examination AIEEA-UG/PG and AICE-JRF/SRF (Ph.D.) 2020-21 being conducted on the above mentioned dates, UGC NET 2020 Examination will now be held from 24th September onwards, this is due to some common candidates in both exams and the requests received thereof.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is set to release admit cards for the UGC NET June or September exams on November 4, 5, 11, 12, and 13. This qualifying examination for teaching posts such as JRF or Assistant Professor will be conducted on November 4, 5, 11, 12, and 13. Admit cards would be available on the UGC official website ugcnet.nic.in.
As per the information bulletin released by the Agency, the downloading of admit cards indicating roll number, center, date, shift, and timing of examination, will commence about 15 days before the date of exam on the respective official websites.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the UGC NET from September 24. Admit cards will be available on the official website of NTA.
As per past trends and a general practice followed by the board, the admit cards for UGC NET 2020 June examinations are expected to be released one week before conduct of examination. The admit cards would be released on the official website ntanet.nic.in.
NTA or National Testing Agency, the government agency which organises the UGC NET exam will release admit card on November 4, 5, 11, 12, and 13. The UGC NET admit card would be released on the official website, ntanet.nic.in.

Exam pattern of UGC NET 2020:
- Mode of Examination: The Examination shall be conducted as Computer Based Test (CBT) only
- Exam Pattern: The Test will consist of two papers. Both the papers will consist of objective type, multiple choice questions. There will be no break between papers
- For each correct response the candidate will get 2 marks
- There is no negative marking for incorrect response
- No marks will be given for questions unanswered/marked for review.
NTA UGC Instructions to candidates
Candidates appearing in UGC-NET should clearly specify in the prescribed application form whether they are applying for ‘only Assistant Professor’ or ‘for both Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor’.
The candidates who qualify the test for eligibility for Assistant Professor will be governed by the rules and regulations for recruitment of Assistant Professor of the concerned universities/colleges/state governments, as the case may be.
The candidates who qualify for the award of JRF are eligible to pursue research in the subject of their post-graduation or in a related subject and are also eligible for Assistant Professor. The universities, institutions, IITs and other national organizations may select the JRF awardees for whole time research work in accordance with the procedure prescribed by them.
Candidates falling under Scheduled Caste(SC)/Scheduled Tribe(ST)/Persons with Disability (PwD)/Transgender/Other Backward Classes(OBC)(Non Creamy Layer), as per the central list of Other Backward Classes available on National Commission for Backward Classes (www.ncbc.nic.in), will be given special concessions as may be decided by the UGC.
Candidates qualifying for the award of JRF will be eligible to receive the fellowship of UGC under various schemes, subject to their finding placement in universities/IITs/Institutions.
However, for those candidates who have joined MPhil/ PhD, the date of commencement of fellowship shall be from the date of declaration of NET result or date of their joining, whichever is later.
UGC NET December 2020: Date and Shift Examination

As per the exam pattern, there would be only two papers this year – Paper I and Paper II. Candidates are advised to go through the detailed notification available on the official website.
The age limit for Junior Research Fellowship was also extended from earlier 28 years to 30 years. NTA conducts NET examination twice every year.
Candidates who have applied for the NTA UGC NET 2020 Examination are hereby notified that the board would not be sending the admit cards to the registered email address.
Candidates are required to check the official website for any updates regarding the examination as well as the admit cards. Also, important information like the examination centre and reporting time would be available on the admit cards. NTA usually releases the admit card 15 – 21 days ahead of the date of the examination.
UGC NET 2020 Subject wise Schedule
The date and subject-wise schedule of UGC NET 2020 examination would be released on ugcnet.nta.nic.in. All those who have applied for the UGC NET 2020 examination are advised to check the complete subject-wise schedule. The morning shift would be conducted from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. The afternoon shift is from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
How to download NTA UGC NET Exam Admit cards:
Candidates need to print a copy of NTA NET admit card downloaded from NTA website. One passport size photograph (same as uploaded on the online application form) should be taken for pasting on the specific space in the attendance sheet at centre during the examination.
Along with the admit card, the candidate should bring any one of the authorized photo IDs (must be original, valid and non-expired) from PAN card or Driving License or Voter ID or Passport or Aadhaar Card (With photograph) or Aadhaar Enrolment No or Ration Card). The name on the photo identification must match with the name as shown on the NTA NET admit card.

Important instructions regarding UGC NET examination 2020:
A photo identity card is to be carried by the candidates along with a print out of their online Admit Card on the day of examination.
There is no negative marking for incorrect attempts. It is sincerely advised that candidates attempt every question.
As per the official notification, candidates are supposed to report at the examination centre 2 hrs 30 minutes prior to examination commencement and cooperate with the invigilating staff at the time of frisking. No candidate will be permitted to leave the examination hall before 10 am in the 1st session and 1 pm in the 2nd session.
The candidates have to obey to the instructions given by the invigilators in the examination hall and should not argue with the invigilators or other staff involved in the examination duty.
All the examination halls would be having a wall clock so the candidates are not supposed to wear any type of watch to the hall. The use of calculators in log tables is not allowed.
Mobile phones, electronic devices, paper bits and chits, books/notebooks etc. are not allowed inside the room. If candidate(s) are found in possession of any of these items, they will be treated as cases of unfair means and their result will not be declared.

Admit card of UGC NET is an important document, as it contains details about the candidates and the examination. Other than the exam date, timing, centre address, roll number, the application number, reporting timing, etc are also written on it. Exam instructions are also given at the end of the admit card and candidates must know of it.
On the exam day, candidates have to carry the admit card as a print copy. Along with it, candidates also need to carry one passport size photograph and one valid photo id proof, as the original. PwD candidates need to carry a PwD certificate, issued by the competent authority.
The photograph has to be pasted in the admit card and should be the same as that uploaded in the form. Valid photo id proof which the candidates can carry with UGC NET admit card can be – pan card, driving license, voter id, passport, Aadhaar card or enrolment number, and ration card. Also, candidates whose names have been changed due to marriage, need to carry marriage certificate, divorce document, legal name change documents, or any other document supporting the same.
UGC NET is a national level examination, which is conducted to award Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) or eligibility for Assistant Professorship. The exam is held in 81 subjects.
NTA conducts the exam twice a year, in the month of December and June. The dates for UGC NET June 2020 have also been released and the exam will be held in June.
