Engineering Entrance Exams in India: One of the most popular career options in India is engineering. Students can either do Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) or Bachelor of Engineering (BE). The difference between both courses is minor. BE is more of a theory-based course, whereas, B.Tech has a more practical approach.
The biggest entrance exam for Under Graduate engineering admission is JEE Main. The exam is held twice by NTA in January and April. The score of JEE Main is accepted by NITs, CFTIs, IIITs, and various colleges throughout the nation. However, premier engineering institutes, i.e. Indian Institute of Technology (IITs), hold its entrance exam called as JEE Advanced.
JEE Advanced is also held at a national level but only top 2.5 qualifying candidates of JEE Main can participate in the exam. Hence, students need to qualify JEE Main to be eligible for JEE Advanced.
Other than JEE, there are various states which hold State Level Entrance exams 2021 for admission of the students in the engineering colleges of that particular state. The exam is held at Kerala, Karnataka, West Bengal, AP, TS are called as UPSEE, KEAM, KCET, WBJEE, AP EAMCET, TS EAMCET, respectively. Some states, such as Bihar carry the admission process based on JEE Main.
Engineering admission in private Universities is either done on the basis of the JEE Main or university entrance exam. Some of the most popular universities for engineering are VIT, SRM, Manipal, GITAM, KIIT and all of these conduct entrance exam for admission.
Medical Entrance Exams in India: Another popular career choice in India is medical. Around 12 to 13 lakh students apply for the NEET UG, which is the national level entrance single entrance exam for MBBS, BDS, and AYUSH admission.
Other than NEET, the entrance exam for JIPMER and AIIMS were held. However, as per the new notice issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, NEET will be the only entrance exam in India for UG medical admission in India. About 15 per cent all India medical seats are filled by Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) and the rest of the seats are also filled as per NEET rank but through individual state counselling.
Architecture Entrance Exams in India: There are two courses under architecture, Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) and Bachelor of Planning (B.Plan). The national level exam for UG architecture is JEE Main and NATA. The score of both exams is considered by various colleges.
Other than these two examinations, IITs grant architecture admission through JEE Advanced AAT and some of the private colleges like Sathyabama University conduct its entrance exam.
Fashion and Design Entrance Exams in India: There is no national level entrance exam conducted for the fashion stream. Various institutes like NIFT NID, Pearl Academy, etc., hold entrance exams for admission. Candidates of all the streams can apply for the exams, provided they fulfil the eligibility criteria of the exam.
B.Des course is slowing gaining popularity. It is an amazing course for candidates inclining towards technology and design. IITs hold UCEED for design admission and 17 more institutes consider the score of the exam for admission.
Law Entrance Exams in India: Law entrance exams are also conducted at national, state or university levels for admission to law courses such as LLB, BA LLB, BBA LLB, and more. The top law entrance exam is CLAT, which is conducted by National Law Universities (NLUs). However, NLU Delhi conducts its own entrance exam, called AILET.
There are some universities like the Army Institute of Law, Symbiosis Law Schools, Bharati Vidyapeeth, etc which grant admission on the basis of its entrance exam, as well as, national level entrance exam.
An exception to the law entrance exam is the All India Bar Examination (AIBE). The examination is not conducted for admission to Law colleges, but it is conducted to examine an advocates capability to practice the profession of law in India. The AIBE entrance exam addresses a candidate’s analytical abilities and understanding the basic knowledge of the law. After passing the test, a candidate is awarded a certificate of practice by the Bar Council of India.
Hotel Management Entrance Exams in India: There are many colleges in India which offer admission in Hotel Management and Catering Technology. The hotel management entrance exams are conducted at the national, state, and college levels. The national level exam for HM admission is NCHMCT JEE. It is conducted by NTA in April.
State-level hotel management entrance exam includes Maharashtra Hotel Management Common Entrance Test (MAH HM CET), WBJEE Joint Entrance Examination For Admission to Bachelor Courses of Hotel Management & Research (JEHOM), Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Exam. Institutes like Bharati Vidyapeeth, Panjab University conducts its own Hotel management entrance test.
Media and Journalism Entrance Exams in India: Students who wish to make a career in print or electronic media, have numerous options to do so by appearing in the media and journalism entrance exams. The exams are conducted by various private and public institutions in India like Manipal University, Amrita University, Asian Academy of Film and TV Noida, FTII, Satyajit Ray Film, and Television Institute, Symbiosis, etc.
MICA and IIMC are among the most sought institute for media and journalism course. Both the colleges conduct entrance exam for admission.
