Student Registration for APAAR ID Creation at UDISE Plus Portal

“NEP 2020” is focused on training students to become global citizens or future leaders, empowering learners of all ages to develop the skills required to thrive as global citizens who embrace diversity in all aspects of life.

A unique ID will be created for each student to track their educational progress and achievements, helping to achieve the objectives of “One Nation, One Student ID.”

This unique ID, designed to empower students, will be lifelong and help students access educational resources, enhancing their learning journey.

Furthermore, this APAAR ID will serve as a gateway for accessing the Dig locker ecosystems, allowing students to digitally store all their achievements, such as exam results, holistic report cards, learning outcomes, and other achievements in fields like OLYMPIAD, sports, skill training, or any other area.

Students can use this credit score for their higher education or employment purposes in the future. It is important to note that the Ministry of Education (MOE) will generate the APAAR ID based on student details available on the UDISE+ portal and each student’s Aadhaar validation.

Separate consent is required from the parent to share the student’s Aadhaar. The data collected will be kept confidential, and the Aadhaar number will be masked when sharing the data with other government users, ensuring the utmost security and privacy of the student’s information.

The APAAR ID system is created to assign a unique, lifelong 12-digit identifier to all students enrolled in school. This provision aims to facilitate targeted interventions that will enhance school enrollments, learning outcomes, and the seamless management of academic records, among other benefits.

APAAR ID Benefits

The APAAR ID system provides direct benefits to various stakeholders in different areas:

Unified Tracking: It enables comprehensive monitoring of students’ educational journeys, helping to reduce dropout rates, track out-of-school children (OoSC), and enhance learning outcomes.

Digital Integration: APAAR ID is directly linked to the DigiLocker ecosystem, allowing for the digital storage of academic achievements, including exam results, holistic report cards, and extracurricular accomplishments.

Seamless Transitions: It ensures the smooth transfer of academic records when students move between schools, districts, or states for various reasons.

Visualization of Learning Pathway through VSK: Integrating APAAR ID with IT systems linked to VSK will allow for macro and micro analysis of educational interventions and outcomes at all administrative levels.

APAAR ID Creation

Creating an APAAR ID has been enabled through the UDISE Plus portal. Steps to follow the student registration for the APAAR ID Creation at the UDISE+ Portal:

Step 1: Organize a Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM): Schools should arrange a PTM to introduce APAAR and its unique use cases and create “STUDENTS APAAR IDs.”

Step 2: Distribute Consent Forms: Schools should provide physical consent forms to parents.

Step 3: Obtain Parental Consent: For minors, parents should complete and sign the consent form while the school verifies student and parent identities.

Step 4: Educate on APAAR: Schools should provide a complete overview of APAAR to students and their parents.

Step 5: Capture Consent: Schools must collect and store parents’ “physical consent forms.” The PTM may be disbursed after the consent form is collected.

Step 6: Access the APAAR Module: After the PTM, the school UDISE Coordinator or Class Teacher logs into the UDISE+ portal and navigates to the APAAR Module tab.

Step 7: Authenticate Information: School authorities authenticate student details only for the students whose consent has been received (e.g., name, gender, DOB, parents’ names, Aadhaar number) to create the APAAR ID through the UDISE+ APAAR Module.

Step 8: Generate APAAR ID: The UDISE Coordinator or Class Teacher creates the APAAR ID upon verifying student details. It is then securely pushed to the student’s DigiLocker account. A confirmation SMS will be delivered to the parents through their registered mobile number linked to their UDISE+ account.

Step 9: Share APAAR ID: After successful APAAR ID creation, schools provide “APAAR ID” to students and their parents. Additionally, school authorities mention the APAAR ID number on their School ID cards. A confirmation SMS will be delivered to the parents through their registered mobile number, which will be updated in the UDISE+ system.

Step 10: Failed to Create APAAR ID: If the student details are unsuccessfully validated or there are other errors, the UDISE portal will highlight the error message to the school authority.

The school may redirect the parents to the Common Service Centre (CSC) for corrections. For any support regarding the APAAR Generation process, don’t hesitate to contact the toll-free helpline number 1800-889-3511.
