CHILDLINE 1098 Service (Ten Nine Eight) 24×7
CHILDLINE is India’s first 24-hour, free emergency phone service for children in need of aid and assistance. Whether you are a concerned adult or a child, you can dial 1098, the toll-free number, to access our services. CHILDLINE not only responds to children’s emergency needs but also links them to services for their long-term care and rehabilitation.
CHILDLINE in each city operates through a structured network of street and community youth, non-profit organizations, institutions, and concerned individuals.
Each call center has a team of trained youth who man the telephone lines 24 hours a day. Within 60 minutes (at most) of receiving a call, the team rushes to the child and attends to the crisis at hand. This may involve going to a police station, the Juvenile Welfare Board, or a hospital. There is regular follow-up until the child tides through the crisis, after which options for long-term rehabilitation are presented to the child.
1098 is a four-digit telephone number allocated exclusively to CHILDLINE India Foundation by the Department of Telecom, Ministry of Communication and IT, to set up a nationwide toll-free helpline for children in distress. CIF develops and implements the CHILDLINE service across the country. CIF funds all organizations Partnering with CIF to implement the service for the CHILDLINE service.
CHILDLINE reaches out to children from 0 to 18 and, in extreme emergencies, to young adults up to the age of 25. CHILDLINE is currently functional in 81 cities and 25 states across the country. Over the next 10 years, we aim to be in all 596 districts.

CHILDLINE Se DOSTI Program and CHILDLINE 1098 Oath Event at High Schools
As per Lr. No:02/2014 Office of the District Educational Officer, Warangal, CHILDLINE 1098 Project requesting to Organize CHILDLINE 1098 Oath on 17th November 2014 in the reference letter of Coordinator -CHILDLINE Warangal, Dated:5th November 2014 for Organizing CHILDLINE 1098 Oath by the children.
As you know, CHILDLINE 1098 was launched in July 2011 for children in need of care and protection in Warangal district. CHILDLINE 1098 is a National 24-hour toll-free emergency service for children in need of care and protection. The CHILDLINE Project is run under the aegis of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India.
This year, CHILDLINE 1098 is conducting the CHILDLINE Se DOSTI program from 14th to 20th November 2014. This program envisages a warm and inviting initiative aimed at creating awareness about CHILDLINE 1098 that will reach out and touch people from all walks of life.
As part of the Program, there is a CHILDLINE 1098 Oath event at high schools on 17th November 2014, at 10hr 9 min 8 sec (10.9.8am). Hence, you kindly organize this event at your schools and help give wide publicity to “CHILDLINE 1098” and make Warangal a child-friendly district.
