Acharya Nagarjuna University is one of the first state universities to tap into Information and Communication Technology(ICT) tools and this university has launched online programmes in under graduation and post graduation levels. Vice Chancellor of ANU K. Viyanna Rao has launched online coursres in the month of July, 2014. It’s online programs were designed to provide the skills to learners need to learn to grow as a proffessional and the credentials required to bring change in the lives of others around to them. Higher Education is witnessing sweeping changes and more number of professionals are now opting for online learning.
ANU online courses are popular among students. The website of the online courses www.anuonline.ac.in has been already visited may candidates since its launch on that day this year. The university, which has been successful in offering the courses through the centre distance education in the conventional mode, has embaked on the online learning programmes with a view to attracting more students in the era of Information Technology.
The ANU in association with Schoolguru Eduserve Pvt Ltd, an academic serve firm based in Mumbai, is offering 16 Online courses with 30 programmes in first phase through the Centre for Online programmes.
The knowledge gained there will act as solutions to the challenges to them face at their workplace as well as their community. These online courses will help them in applying candidate’s workplace, Shariing and exchanging ideas with fellow colleaques and faculty and Discussing the challenges to candidates have faced and share best practices.
The University will provide the students the complete course material, replete with video lectures, audio books, textual study material and animated content created by experienced professors and industry experts. Students who have registered for the programmes will have a truly interactive learning experience according to the ANU officials an they said that each student would be provided with a user ID and password and could access personalised course pages on the university learning management system.
Taking a step ahead, the ANU is also launching mobile interface which could be downloaded by the students on their smartphones. Once the student downloads the content, he would be able to access the information without internet connection. In this process University was also launching online examination system, where in the examinations, assignments and evaluation would be done online and the firm has been creating the content on ERP with integrated learning management system and mobile applications. More than hundred students had already taken admission for several online courses and added that they were expecting at least fiteen hundred to two thousand online admissions this academic year according to the ANU Vice chancellor.
