The National Testing Agency, NTA has released Assam Olympiad 2021 or AO 2021 notification on its website. NTA will be conducting a state-level exam in Assam for the first time on March 21. The Olympiad will be held for the government school students studying in classes 6 to 12. Interested candidates can submit their applications through the website- ao.nta.ac.in till February 28.
The Assam Olympiad is aimed at bringing the most gifted secondary and higher secondary students together in a friendly competition of the highest level. The Olympiads provide a stimulus to begin a career in science or mathematics, to undertake a lifelong journey into the realms of exciting intellectual challenges.
The Olympiads are not merely competitions, they are the meeting places of the brightest young minds of the world. Much like the Olympics in sports, the Olympiads are a celebration of the very best in school level science and mathematics.
A student Science/ Mathematics, will be able to explore the various dimensions of the Olympiad program, dimensions that are not often encountered in regular education. It will also be a learning opportunity. Axom Sarba Siksha Abhiyan Mission (ASSAM), Assam proposes to conduct Assam Olympiad in Maths and Science for the students studying in Class VI to Class XII in the Government Schools located in Assam. A.S.S.A.M. has entrusted the task of conducting the exam to NTA.
Eligibility Criteria for appearing in AO 2021: A candidate should be currently studying in any of the Classes from Class VI to Class XII, in the Government schools located in Assam. A candidate will have to appear in the exam in respect of the Class in which he is studying currently. There is no age limit for appearing in the exam. Date of birth as recorded in the School records shall be the authentic proof that will be accepted.
Assam Olympiad Exam Pattern: The exam will be conducted in paper pen mode. Candidates will be required to write their answers on the OMR answer sheets by darkening the appropriate circles against each question number.
The paper comprises Multiple Choice Questions in the following areas. Exam will be held for candidates who are presently in- from Class VI up to Class XII. Thus there will be 7 papers, one for each Class from Class VI to Class XII. No negative marking for an incorrect response. Section II for Classes XI and XII will comprise 3 sub sections on Physics, Chemistry and Biology, of 10 questions each.
The exams will be held in both the sessions morning session (8:30 am to 11:30 am) for classes 6 to 9, while afternoon session (1:30 pm to 4:30 pm) for classes 10 to 12.

AO Syllabus 2021: The syllabus will be the same as applicable to the Class in which the candidates are studying currently, in the State of Assam, as per the Assam Higher Secondary Council and Elementary Education.
Medium of Question Paper: The medium of Question Paper shall be in Assamese, Bengali, Bodo and English only. Candidates will be given bilingual Question Paper i.e. the Question Paper will be in English and the language opted by the Candidate.
Option of medium of Question Paper should be carefully chosen by the Candidate, while filling the Application Form online. The option once exercised cannot be changed. In case of any ambiguity in translation/construction of a question in the exam, its English version shall be treated as final and the decision of NTA shall be final in this regard.
AO Online Application 2021: Candidate must read carefully the Instructions (including how to fill up Application Form online) given in the Information Bulletin available on the NTA Website. Candidates not complying with the Instructions shall be summarily disqualified. Candidate can apply for AO 2021 through “Online” mode only. The Application Form in any other mode will not be accepted. Only one application is to be submitted.
The Confirmation Page of the online Application Form could be generated only after successful uploading of the photograph and signature by the Candidate. Steps to Apply for AO: For online applying, candidates need to visit the AO NTA website and follow the given below steps.
- For AO for Online Registration, first register with your own Email ID and Mobile No. or that of your parent and note down system generated Application Number.
- Complete the Online Application Form and note down the system generated Application Number.
- Upload scanned images of necessary items or documents
- After successful completion uploading, download Confirmation Page of the Application Form and a printout of the same may be retained for future reference.
The online correction window will be opened till March 3, and the hall ticket will be available to download from March 5. The pen-and-paper based exam will contain multiple choice questions (MCQ) in maths and science. The candidates will be required to choose any of the languages Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, English
AO Admit Card 2021: The Admit Card is issued provisionally to the candidates, subject to their satisfying the eligibility conditions. The candidate has to download the Admit Card from the NTA website and appear for the Examination at the given Centre on Date, timing and discipline as indicated in their Admit Card.
No candidate will be allowed to appear at the Examination centre, on Date and timing other than that allotted to them in their Admit Card. In case candidates are unable to download Admit Cards from the website, they may approach the Help Line between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm or write to NTA at firstname.lastname@example.org.,in. The candidates are advised to read the instructions on the Admit Card carefully and follow them during the conduct of the examination.
In case of any discrepancy in the particulars of the candidate or his/her photograph and signatures shown in the Admit Card and Confirmation Page, the candidate may immediately approach the Help Line between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm. In such cases, candidates would appear in the Examination with the already downloaded Admit Card. However, NTA will take necessary action to make correction in the record later.
AO Response Sheet 2021: Display of Recorded Responses – NTA will display the recorded responses and Question Paper attempted by the candidates on the NTA website https://ao.nta.ac.in prior to declaration of result. The recorded responses are likely to be displayed for two to three days.
AO Answer Key 2021: Display of Provisional Answer Key for Challenges – The NTA will display Provisional Answer Keys of the questions on the NTA website: https://ao.nta.ac.in, with a Public Notice issued to this effect on the said website, to provide an opportunity to the candidates to challenge the Provisional Answer Keys. The provisional Answer Keys are likely to be displayed for two to three days.
The subject experts will examine all the challenges received and then a final answer key will be displayed and declared. The result will be compiled on the basis of the Final Answer Key declared. No grievance with regard to Answer Key(s) after Declaration of Result of AO 2021 will be entertained. The NTA‟s decision on the challenges shall be final and no further communication will be entertained. NTA will not inform the Candidates individually about their challenges.
AO Result 2021 or AO Score 2021: The result will be processed based on Final Answer Keys. No grievance with regard to Answer Keys after Declaration of Result of AO will be entertained. The raw or actual marks obtained by a candidate will be considered further for computation of the AO Result.
No Score Card will be dispatched to the candidates and the candidates are advised to download their Score Cards from the NTA website only. In addition, all candidates who appeared in the exam will be given a participation certificate. There is no provision for rechecking/re-evaluation/re-totaling of the result/score and no query in this regard will be entertained. The National Testing Agency (NTA) is an Examination conducting body and will provide AO Score 2021.
