Tips for enhance the effectiveness of the teaching process:
- Use as many visual aids as possible and a variety of familiar examples. Organize the material so that it is presented in a logical manner and in meaningful units.
- Try to use terms and concepts that are already familiar to the students.
- Give students the chance to use their new skills immediately.
- Maximize the similarity between the learning situation and the assessment situation and provide adequate practice.
- Students learn best at their own pace and when correct responses are immediately reinforced, perhaps with a quick “Well done’.
- Learners who are immersed in deep experiential learning in highly visual and interactive environments become intellectually engaged in the experience.

Unit Plan: Unit Planning is the proper selection of learning activities which presents a complete picture. Unit planning is a systematic arrangement of subject matter. “A unit plan is one which involves a series of learning experiences that are linked to achieve the aims composed by methodology and contents,” (Samford).
“A unit is an organization of various activities, experiences and types of learning around a central problem or purpose developed cooperatively by a group of pupils under a teacher leadership involving planning, execution of plans and evaluation of results,” (Dictionary of Education).
Planning is essential for being an effective teacher. It is a creative process that allows us to synthesize our understanding of second language acquisition and language teaching pedagogy with our knowledge of our learners, the curriculum, and the teaching context.
It is a time when we envision the learning we want to occur and analyze how all the pieces of the learning experience should fit together to make that vision a classroom reality. For successful transaction in the classroom, the teacher has to prepare year plan, unit plan and lesson plans.
Year plan: Year plan will give us an overview of our curriculum at a glance. It can helps us to stay on the track each month in meeting the curriculum goals that we have set for the year. Here is a model year plan for arranging the lessons/units based on the number of working days and instructional hours in a year.
Class 1 English TLM: The present curriculum gives importance to child centred education and the pedagogy is shifted from instruction to construction. To understand concepts appropriate Teaching Learning Material is required. The learner has some previous knowledge about vocabulary and can use simple sentences in her mother tongue.
Teaching Learning Material enables the child to participate / engage in learning process. The teacher has to prepare are collect TLM according to the age and level of the child.
