All the Regional Joint Director of School Educations, all the District Educational Officers in the State are invited to the reference read above and it is informed that number of private managements have put their school names like..
Concept, Brilliant, Central, Convent, Creative, Digi, Dreams, Excellence, IIT, Hitech, International, Model, National, Planet, Olympiad, Techno, Talent,Smart etc., as per statement.
Therefore, all the Regional Joint Director of School Education and all the District Educational Officers in the State are requested to take immediate necessary action on correction with names and also take action against the managements who are violated the rules issued in G.O.Ms.No.91, Education (SE: P.S-I) Department, dt: 06.08.2009 and submit the compliance report to this office.
Don’t put fancy names/tags in School names:
Though illegal, most of the private and corporate schools across the State have tags like e-Techno, IIT-Olympiad, Concept, e-Shastra, Digi etc……. Most parents falling prey to the fancy names opted for by the schools. Student bodies urge the govt to crack whip against the erring schools
In a move to make as many admissions as they can, private and corporate school managements in the State are luring parents by suffixing fancy tags to the school names. As the admissions in the private schools are underway, these managements are using names like e-Techno, IIT-Olympiad, Concept, e-Shastra, Digi, concept, brilliant, central, convent, creative, digi, dreams, excellence, IIT, Hitech, International, Model, National, Planet, Olympiad, Techno, Talent, Smart etc., etc and attracting parents to join their wards in their schools.
Interestingly, a Government Order MS 91 was issued in the erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh banning use of fancy names. This ban continues to exist in Telangana State too after the bifurcation. However, private schools use fancy names to lure parents. The Right to Education Act states that the name of the school shall be an indicative only of the class up to which education is offered. But many schools across the State have given a go by to the RTE Act.
Suffixing a fancy tag the schools are charging an exorbitant fee from the parents’ up to Rs 1 lakh per annum for a class I student. Most parents are falling prey to these fancy names and joining their wards thinking that they would impart syllabus in innovative ways. “The name itself attracts anyone who sees it. parents can join their son in a techno school thinking that it will help them learn things easily. Surprise there was no difference between a techno school and a private school.
The management just charged more fees from us and there was nothing beyond it. Several student organisations and teacher unions have been asking the government to act on these schools for luring parents.
Fancy names should not be used:
“The RTE Act clearly states that fancy names should not be used. We have been staunchly opposing fancy name tags. The School Education Department seems to be lenient on these private school managements. The T government education department has issued a fresh directions to all District Officials to remove fancy name tags from Private School’s names.
