Defence Research and Development Organisation, DRDO has begun the recruitment process for the Scientist post. The application form is available on the website of DRDO.
DRDO has announced Scientist ‘B recruitment, for which graduate engineers and candidates with post-graduation qualification in Science are eligible.
A total of 204 vacancies will be filled through this recruitment. The selection of candidates will be based on GATE and NET scores.
DRDO Scientist Recruitment 2023
The Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has notified the recruitment process for the post of Scientist ‘B’. The DRDO will fill a total of 204 vacancies in various divisions through this recruitment procedure.
Candidates may apply for the recruitment process online at drdo.gov.in by August 31. To apply, the candidate must have a first-class Bachelor of Engineering or Technology (B.E. / B.Tech) degree in a relevant discipline or a Master of Science in a relevant science field from a recognised university. Also, the candidate’s GATE score in relevant disciplines will be considered.
The DRDO is inviting online applications for the recruitment of 204 Scientist B positions. The vacancies are available across various disciplines,
including electronics and communication engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science and engineering, electrical engineering, material science and engineering/ metallurgical engineering, physics, chemistry, chemical engineering, aeronautical engineering, mathematics, and civil engineering.
DRDO Scientist Vacancy Details
As mentioned, this recruitment drive is being held to fill 204 vacancies, 181 of which are for Scientist ‘B’ positions in DRDO, 11 for Scientist ‘B’ posts in the Department of Science and Technology, 6 for Scientist/Engineer positions in the Aeronautical Development Agency, and 6 for Scientist posts in CME.
DRDO Scientist Recruitment Age Limit
The maximum age for candidates looking to apply in the unreserved category is 35 years. The maximum age for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates should be 38 years. Candidates in the SC/ST category should be no older than 40 years old.
DRDO Scientist Recruitment Eligibility
To be eligible for the DRDO Scientist B Recruitment 2023, candidates must:
- Be a citizen of India.
- Have a bachelor’s degree in the relevant discipline from a recognized university.
- Have a valid GATE score.
- Be between the ages of 30 and 40 years as of August 31, 2023.
Graduate engineers and those with post-graduation qualification in Science are eligible to apply for the post. The selection of candidates will be based on GATE and NET scores. The last date for submission of application is July 10.
Candidates who are appearing or have appeared in the final year exam can also apply for this job. “A provision will be made for the candidates who have appeared in final year examination, to upload their degree/ provisional degree certificate online till 31 August 2023 (extendable, at the discretion of RAC, depending upon the situation prevailing at that time),” the job notice released by DRDO reads.
There is no application fee for SC/ST/PwD and women candidates. Other candidates have to pay the application fee of Rs 100.

DRDO is conducting the recruitment drive to fill 185 vacancies of Scientist B. Out of which, 41 vacancies are for Electronics and Communication Engineering, 43 for Mechanical Engineering, 32 for Computer Science, 12 for Electrical Engineering, 10 for Metallurgy, 8 for Physics, 7 for Chemistry, 6 for Chemical Engineering, 9 for Aeronautical Engineering, 3 for Civil Engineering, 4 for Mathematics, and 10 for Psychology.
Candidates must note that the GATE and NET scores are also required to apply for the Scientist B DRDO jobs. For engineering posts, the GATE qualification is necessary and for Psychology, a candidate should have qualified NET exam.

DRDO Scientist Recruitment Application Fee
Male candidates from the General, EWS, and OBC categories must pay a non-refundable application fee of Rs 100. There will be no application fee for SC, ST, PWD, or female candidates.
