The Education Department prioritizes identifying students who have dropped out before completing the tenth standard and cannot continue their education in the tenth or intermediate levels.

The Telangana Sarvathriaka Vidyapeeth (TOSS) has committed to supporting girls in continuing their studies. The state government has set an ambitious target for officials to enroll one lakh candidates in the tenth and intermediate levels under the auspices of TOSS each year.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, one lakh individuals joined TOSS, but enrollment decreased to 60,000 and 65,000. The goal is to increase enrollment back to one lakh.

Plan to Achieve the Goal: Every village has women’s groups who are aware of who have not completed the tenth standard. By informing these groups about TOSS, officials believe reaching the target of one lakh admissions per year will be achievable.

To raise awareness among these women’s groups, they will collaborate with Educate Girls Globality, a non-profit organization based in Mumbai.

Representatives from this organization will study admission trends and work alongside authorities to improve enrollment numbers. Digital lessons and workbooks will also be available, and the website will be updated to facilitate easier application processes.

Program Highlights: Individuals who have paused their education for any reason, or those who will turn 14 by August 31, can directly enroll in the tenth grade through TOSS.

They can sit for exams and receive a certificate upon passing. Typically, the tenth grade includes six subjects; however, TOSS requires students to select only five.

Furthermore, if a student has previously passed any tenth-grade subjects, they can transfer two of those credits, meaning they only need to study three subjects.

Students can choose their preferred subjects; for instance, instead of mathematics, they can opt for Indian culture and heritage or business studies.

The notification for TOSS admissions is released every August, and students need to attend study centers for only 24 to 30 days a year. Exams are conducted yearly in October/November and again in April/May.
