Mahabubabad is an important district of Telangana.
Mahabubabad district has been carved out of erstwhile Warangal district. The district shares boundaries with Kothagudem, Hanamkonda, Warangal, Suryapet and Khammam Districts. The district comprises of 16 mandals and 2 revenue divisions while the district headquarters is located at Mahabubabad town.
In Telugu, the region is also known as Manukota which is derived from the word Mranukota. In Telugu, ‘Mranu’ means ‘tree’ and ‘Kota’ means ‘fort’. Manukota later derived its name from its past ruler, Mahabub, one of the officials of the Hyderabad Nizam.
The district is spread over an area of 2,876.70 square kilometres. According to 2011 Census of India, this district has a population of 7, 70,170. The Bayyarammandal has rich deposits of iron ore, and the National Highway-365 passes through the town of Mahabubabad, which also enjoys good railway connectivity. KuraviVeerabhadraSwamy Temple, located nearly 11 km from Mahabubabad is a renowned divine destination. It was built by Bheema Raju of VengiChalukya Dynasty and later the temple was renovated by the Kakatiya ruler Betharaju-I. The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Veerabhadraswamy in a fierce avatar with three eyes and ten hands. The annual Brahmotsavams is celebrated on the occasion of Mahasivarathri.

The District is divided into 2 Sub divisions for administrative convenience. A Sub division is headed by a Revenue Divisional Officer in the rank of a Deputy Collector or a Sub-Collector. He is the Sub Divisional Magistrate having jurisdiction over his division. An administrative Officer in the Cadre of a Tahsildar assists in administration. The Sub divisional Offices are a replica of Collectorate in the matter of number of sections and they act as intermediary in the administrative setup.

Tahsils division wise in Mahabubabad district: Again the sub divisions divided into Mandals. Mahabubababad District Consists of 16Mandals. Mandal is headed by Tahsildar. The Tahsildar is vested with the same powers and functions of Tahsildars of erstwhile Taluks including magisterial powers. Tahsildar heads the tehsil Office. Tahsildar provides the interface between the government and public within his jurisdiction. He initiates welfare measures within his jurisdiction.
The tahsildar assists the higher authorities in collecting information and conducting inquiries. He provides feedback to the district administration that helps in decision-making at higher levels of administration. The Deputy Tahsildar/Superintendent, Mandal Revenue Inspector, Superintendent, Mandal Surveyor, Assistant Statistical Officer and Other Ministerial Staff. The Deputy Tahsildar/ Superintendent supervises the day today functions of MRO’s office and deals mainly with general administration.
The district has two revenue divisions, Mahabubabad and Thorrur and is sub-divided into 16 mandals.
