NIT Warangal Science Expo Science Fair Registration form, NIT Warangal is going to conduct Science fair for students on 25, 26 February 2017. The OSA Student Chapter is organizing a two-day science exhibit for the school students. This event is aimed to encourage budding minds towards science and technology.
The event is open for all the school students from 8th to 10th standard. Each school can send up to a maximum of 3 science projects designed by students for the event. The best projects will be given certificates of merit and prizes. Schools planning for a visit are requested to send students from 8th to 10th standard not more than 50 in number. And let us know before 20-Feb-2017.
ABOUT SCIENCE EXPO: India is a fast developing country and it needs to be strong both technically and economically to compete with the developed countries and achieve self- sufficiency. Our country has achieved many milestones in the field of science and technology.
ISRO is creating wonders and attracting the whole world by periodic and successful launching of the bulk of satellites. But still, there is a need for indigenous products. The government is also supporting startups through schemes such as make in India and encouraging young people to choose scientific research as a career.
In this context the OSA student chapter, NIT Warangal felt the need of encouraging student community towards science and technology by involving them in making innovative science projects.
This event is aimed at the students of 8. to 10. standard. Students can make their own science projects with the help of faculty and exhibit in the Science-Expo. This event also helps students to interact with professors and get to know about the current and future trends in the field of science and technology.

ABOUT OSA STUDENT CHAPTER, NITW
The OSA Student Chapter was established in 2012. Since its inception, the chapter has been actively organizing various activities like ‘Optics Outreach’ an ‘Youth Education Program’ and participated in Student Leadership workshops followed by International conferences Frontiers in optics (FIO) 2013 to 2016 and International OSA Network of Students (IONS) to promote light-based technologies.
Guidelines for participation in Science Expo-2017 at NIT Warangal
The following points may please be taken note with regard to the participation in the Science Expo-2017 at NIT Warangal.
a) The confirmation of participation (Registration/ confirmation form) should be communicated to Science Expo-2017 organizers through e-mail on or before 15th February 2017. This may be treated as urgent.
b) All participating school teams are requested to report at the venue on 25th February 2017 by 8:30 am.
c) Attendance of all the participants from a school and of the escort teacher is a must on two days of the event. No student or teacher will be allowed to leave the venue during the exhibition hours.
d) The school team should comprise of a maximum of two students and one escort teacher for one exhibit. However, in the case of two exhibits from the same school, a total of a maximum of four students and one escort teacher are allowed to participate in the event.
e) The participating teams are requested to make their own travel arrangements to NITW. Accommodation may be provided for a limited number of participants depending on the distance of the location from NITW with prior notice.
f) All expenses for participation in the event will be borne by participating teams/schools only.
g) Any requirements from our side should be notified before 20th February 2017 through the mail. In the absence of any response from the school, it may be assumed that the school has no requirement. In such circumstances participating team will not demand any object at the time of registration or exhibition.
h) On reaching NITW on 25th February 2017 the school team is required to report at the registration desk and get registered for participation in submitting a copy of the original registration form and requirement form sent by you through email earlier and the write-up.
i) Every team is also required to submit a brief one- page typed write-up of the exhibit/project including title, objective, related principle, working, diagram/photo utility, cost and further scope, etc. at the registration table on arrival.
j) The exhibit/model should be arranged at the space provided for the team.
k) The exhibit will be evaluated by a committee of subject experts. The main parameters for assessment of an exhibit will include creativity, originality/innovation, Scientific thought, technical skill, utility, economic aspect, and presentation. The school team should remain present at the allotted place for the exhibit for all the time on two days.
l) The best exhibits/teams selected by the Judges will be awarded certificates of Merit and prizes.
m) The timings of the exhibition will be from 9.00 a.m.to 5.00 p.m.

THEME OF SCIENCE EXPO
Though the event encourages all kinds of science projects prepared by students, priority will be given to the projects that are related to the following areas.
1. Light-based phenomena
2. Renewable or green energy
3. Electronics
REGISTRATION& PARTICIPATION:
Schools interested to participate in this event are requested to download the registration form at osanitw.wordpress.com/science-expo and send the duly filled scan copy to nitw.osa@gmail.com. Each school can send the abstract for a maximum of 3 projects.
All the abstract submissions are due by 15-02-2017. shortlisted projects will be notified to corresponding schools on 20-02-2017. The students have to bring the original copy of the registration form at the time of reporting.
The students and accompanying faculty should report by 8:30 are on 25/02/2017 failing which their registration is liable for cancellation.
Participants should bring necessary accessories for their project along with them for example charts, markers, batteries, extension cords, etc.,
No TA and accommodation will be provided for the participants.
The participating schools have to make their own arrangements for travel.
Projects will be evaluated by the evaluation committee and prizes will be awarded.

A PLAN FOR A VISIT
Schools are encouraged to send students not more than 50 from 8. to 10th standard to visit the Science Expo and have a pleasant time at NIT Warangal. In addition to exhibits in Science Expo, the OSA & SPIE Student Chapters also exhibit few interesting laser and fiber optic experiments which demonstrate fundamental light principles and applications.
