SCERT has submitted New School Timings and Details of the Periods for Primary, Upper Primary and High Schools: The State Council of Education Research and Training(SCERT) has proposed changing the school timings from 9 AM to 4.30 PM in government schools as required under the Right to Education(RTE) Act. So, In the reference cited below the Director, SCERT has submitted school timings and details of the periods for Primary, Upper Primary and High Schools in terms of the propositions of RTE Act. Students spend 45 hours a week in school, an increase of over five hours the existing 40 hours of teaching.
In this connection Andhra Pradesh State Project Director, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and Commissioner and Director of School Education has given orders to all the District Educational Officers and Regional Joint Directors. In the reference cited the Director, SCERT has submitted school timings and details of the periods for Primary, Upper Primary and High Schools in terms of the propositions of RTE Act. All the District Educational Officers are hereby instructed to adapt the school timings and also academic calendar proposed by Director,State Council of Education Research and Training(SCERT).
As per the provisions of the RTE Act shall be ensured that no school works beyond the school hours and teachers shall not be forced to conduct special classes beyond school hours. It shall also be ensured that private schools do not function more than working hours prescribed by the Director SCERT though the timings can vary depending on the local situation . In case of any difficulty in maintaining the school timings prescribed for Government/Z.P.Schools, specific proposals can be submitted by the DEO for relaxing. In case of any specific reasons like non-availability of APSRTC buses or remotness of the area etc, such proposal examined.
New School Time Table Suggested as per RTE
- Primary Schools: From 9.00 AM to 4.00 PM
- Upper Primary Schools: From 9.00 AM to 4.30 PM (Primary School children Will leave by 4.00 PM)
- High Schools : From 9.00 AM to 4.30 PM
