Readiness Programme: All the students should possess the class level standards. Otherwise they feel difficult in understanding the respective concepts in that class.
So each and every student should be taught with preliminary and fundamental concepts which they have learnt in previous classes before teaching the present syllabus.
They are able to understand easily and group the concepts in that class. Hence they will leave all their fear and difficulties towards the subject and gain some interest.
So we should make the children well prepared by this School Readiness Programme. Hence it is very much useful for a teacher to teach and the student to understand / learn.
Thus the teaching learning process becomes easy. As soon as a child enters the school, he is afraid of the new circumstances.
So in case of removing all his fears we should make them habituated slowly by games, songs, poems, puzzles etc., and should attract them to our school.
We should create and encourage a healthy and friendly atmosphere among the peer groups to mingle with one another by talking, playing and sharing.
We should provide play items and ask them to play. We should give some simple instructions to play the games and make the children to listen, to pay attention, to understand and to follow the given instructions. So that the child may habituate to the classroom conditions, situations and to the teachers without any hesitations.
He becomes free to move and mingle. For the very first kids to school i.e. for Ist class children we should give some general concepts which they know already in their day to day life.
We can ask them about big and small, more or less, far and near, high and low, above and below in which they have some previous knowledge. So that they will not feel anything new in school and becomes free in their behaviour.
We can ask about the shapes they know already about the concept of counting, keeping in order, differentiate, classify the known things, one-one relations etc., to make them ready for numbers and numerical systems.
The most important aspect in this school readiness programme is to make the child come to school in time, be punctual, be regular, able to listen to the instructions given by the teacher able to sit in the class room and engaged in some game or work given.
The class 1 readiness is to make the child, the very new beginner to be interested in school and develop eagerness and interests towards the classroom activities.
The class 2 children immediately after they have got promoted from class I should be given with the concepts of class which they have already learnt. So that they can gain some self confidence and leave their fears in their new class and develops interests.
Before teaching the 2nd class we should remise and recall their concepts learnt in 1st class such as 1 to 100 numbers, simple additions below 20, simple subtractions (without borrowing), counting numbers or money up to 100, distances, measurements, time, weights, and volumes etc.
So that they can imagine / compare / think / recall and recognise their known facts. In this way school readiness programme helps a child to overcome all his inhibitions.
