Conduct School Day Celebrations/ School Foundation Day Celebrations in Oldest TS Schools in Telangana State: The State Project Director, SSA, Govt. of Telangana State has given instructions to all the Project Officers and District Educational Officers in the state for the conduct of School Foundation Day/ School Day Celebrations in Oldest Schools. This proceedings details as follows.

Conduct School Day Celebrations/ School Foundation Day Celebrations in Oldest TS Schools: In the reference read above, the MHRD, GOI, New Delhi. of SE & Literacy, New Delhi has directed to enhance Community Participation in school management, the Right to Education Act 2009 provides a major role for the community in management of schools through the School Management Committees.
The RMSA framework too gives a premier role to School Development Management Committees (SDMC’s). In the above point we need to take some proactive steps to deepen community engagement. In that background, it should be our endeavor to celebrate schools as pivotal in the life of the local community, and urged to involve them.
Guidelines for Conduct of School Foundation Day Celebrations:
Following steps are recommended by the MHRD:
- Identify some of the oldest schools in each district and celebrate its foundation day to highlight its heritage value and its role in the education of the local community.
- Celebrate the foundation day of all schools with the local community and SDMC’s.
- Invite distinguished retired teachers from the local school and honour them on such occasions.
- Initiate celebration of local festivals by engaging community to start an education dialogue (Shiksha Samvad) on various issues of improving school functioning and quality of learning.
A few States are already doing this successfully through initiatives like Shiksha Shaniwar (Rajasthan), Saturday Club activities (Assam), Chavdi Vachan (Maharastra), Vali Sammelan – Community Fair (Gujarat) etc.
Hence, all the POs/DEOs in the State are hereby involved to take action accordingly on the above 4 points. Treat this as MOST IMPORTANT.
So, All the MEOs in all the Districts are requested to through the SPD proceedings and to submit the proposals accordingly for taking further course of action.
