The Telangana government has named its programme of restoration of tanks as Mission Kakatiya a tribute to the Kakatiya dynasty rules who had built a large number of irrigation tanks in Telangana. This programme tag line is Mana Vooru-Mana Cheruvu.
Mission Kakatiya, a flagship programme of the Telangana government, by adopting their native villages and water tanks. The ambitious “Mission Kakatiya” means restoration of minor irrigation tanks, it would be taken up as a movement to bring back the lost glory to the villages in the Telangana State.
This program initiated by Chief Minister of Telangana Mr. Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao (KCR). As part of this, government identified 45000+ tanks and lakes in a special intensive survey on minor irrigation tanks.
Government planning to restore all these tanks and lake which is expected to cost Rs.20,000 crore over the next five years and Tanks’ restoration would provide water agriculture besides improving ground water and the main aim of the project is to provide water for Agriculture. This program will start in the month of January, 2015.
Minister for major irrigation T. Harish Rao said that, in the first phase, 20 per cent of total tanks will be restored by May 31, 2015. About 26 lakh acres will be irrigated in the state by storing 265 tmc water in the tanks. There is no paucity of funds and e-tenders for the works have been invited,”

Essay writing and Drawing Competitions on Mission Kakatiya
In this subject, He also instructed the Educational Department authorities through a letter, to conduct essay writing competitions for the students on the Mission Kakatiya and importance of restoration of tanks in all the districts.
In this letter Telangana State government, Minister for Irrigation, Marketing& Legislative affairs Sri.T.Harish Rao garu requested to all the education department officials, to conduct Essay writing and Drawing Competitions in all Telangana schools from 21st to 25th January, 2015 on ” Cheruvula punuruddharana- Avashyakatha-Prayojanaalu”.

In this regard, it is proposed to conduct essay writing competitions, drawing competitions, elocution etc. on the need, utility of the programme of Mission Kakatiya i.e. restoring all the tanks and lakes in Telangana State from 10th to 14th February, 2015 in all the government and private schools.

Guidelines for Conduct of Essay Writing, Drawing Competitions
Essay, drawing contests on Mission Kakatiya to be held in Telangana Schools. Competitions in essay-writing and drawing to be organised on Mission Kakatiaya for students in two categories at the Government High Schools in Telangana.
Students belonging to the ninth and 10th classes take part in the competition in the seniors category while students of sixth, seventh and eighth classes will participate in the juniors category.

Ranga Reddy News:
In promoting Mission Kakatiya, lake restoration programme, the Telangana government has ordered students to involve from all government and private schools. School administrations to teach students about this programme mandated by the Govt. District administrations have been asked to assure that competitive exams in this regard are conducted at the high schools on January 24 and at the mandal level on January 28.
The eligible students for state-level competitive exams which held in February are students who will secure top three positions in each school and mandal level exams. District education officer of Ranga Reddy district said that those who participate in the exams they will be get a participation certificate. Source: V6 News
