CII – Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) has launched Green Your School programme with an objective to nurture the young minds and inspire them to make green a way of life. IGBC is spearheading the Green Schools movement in India through various awareness programmes and competitions.
As part of its initiatives, CII – IGBC is organising the Green Your School Contest 2020 which provides all the schools with an opportunity to inspire, motivate and engage their students to green their respective schools using IGBC Green Schools Rating System as a guide. Green Your School Contest 2020 is a Nationwide contest organised by CII – IGBC. Three students supported by one teacher can participate in the contest
Green Your SCHOOL Programme 2020: Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), part of CII, in its efforts to instil a sense of Green in young minds has launched the Green Schools programme. As part of this initiative, the council is organizing the 13th program – ‘Green Your School. So, All schools in India are Invited and Entry FREE for all schools in India
National Competition on Green Your School: IGBC is organising 13th edition of Green Your School contest for schools across India. Students of 8th-10th std can take part. The schools have to submit a presentation on Green measures they would like to implement in school. Eight schools will be shortlisted. Top three schools would receive a cash award of Rs 4 Lakhs & next five schools will receive Rs 1.5 Lakhs towards implementation. Entry free for this contest
Who can participate in Green Your School Contest 2020?
Students of VIII – X standard and students of VIII – X Standards of all schools in India can participate.
What should the schools do?
Identify TOP 10 green ideas for implementation in the school Capture the ideas in Powerpoint Presentation and indicate the need, the investment required and benefits of each idea Send the Final Presentation to IGBC on or before the stipulated date
1. Use IGBC Green Schools Rating as a tool
2. Develop ideas which can improve, restore, beautify and can convert the existing environment into a Green school
3. Describe your ideas in a presentation format with videos, photos, etc
4. This will enable the children to be imaginative and they will be assessed on their ability to communicate information concisely.
Guidelines to follow
✽ 3 students & 1 teacher shall form a team from each school
✽ Ideas that are implemented by students are encouraged rather than bought-out items
✽ The photographs or videos taken while experimenting these ideas can be included in the presentation
1. Send an email for Confirmation of Participation to firstname.lastname@example.org/ email@example.com by this date.
2. Upon receipt of the email, we shall send you the reference guide of IGBC Green Schools Rating which can be used as a tool to develop ideas for the contest
3. Prepare a PowerPoint Presentation of ideas to convert your school into a Green School using the reference guide
4. Send the presentation in CD through email/ online transfer such as “We transfer” to the above-mentioned email ids before by this date.
6. The presentations will be evaluated by a panel of judges and the top 3 finalist teams will be selected. The selected teams will be intimated.
How to Submit?
The presentation can be sent through email/ online transfer such as “We transfer” (http://wetransfer.com). Submissions only in Powerpoint presentations are considered for evaluation. Any other formats (words/drawings/ paintings) would not be considered for evaluation. Travel & accommodation for top three finalists to Green Building Congress 2020 would be arranged by CII-IGBC. Entries will be evaluated based upon the following criteria:
A panel of judges would evaluate entries based on the following criteria:
❁ Practicality in implementation
❁ Each School should submit only one entry
❁ Benefits to the school & society
❁ Education Awareness
❁ Generation of Ideas
❁ Maximum of Three students and one teacher from each of the top 3 schools can participate.
❁ Top three schools will be supported for implementation with cash awards
❁ All the entries will receive a certificate of participation
❃ All the received entries will be evaluated at the Pre jury level
❃ Top 3 schools would be selected. In addition, the jury would also select the next top 5 schools
❃ Top three finalists would be making a final presentation to a distinguished audience at Green ❃ Building Congress 2020 at Hyderabad
