Eligibility: Candidates who have passed 10+2 or equivalent level exam with science stream in 2020 or 2021 are eligible to apply for admissions. As well as qualifying through three other types of routes. Candidates will be admitted to IISER only through Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY), JEE Advanced with rank within 10,000, and state and central board channel (SCB).
About 50 per cent of the seats in these institutions will be filled by KVPY and JEE. In addition to the remaining seats, another 50 per cent seats will be filled on the basis of merit in the IISER Special Aptitude Test for students who qualify under the SCB scheme.
Candidates who have passed class 12 and are placed in the top 20 percentile in class 12 board in science streams are eligible for admissions through one of the following channels:
Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY): Students with a valid KVPY fellowship for this academic session are eligible for admission.
JEE Advanced: Students securing rank up to 10,000 in JEE Advanced exam are also eligible.
State and Central Boards (SCB): IISER sets a cut off marks for class 12 and students who have marks equal to or above the cut off marks can apply. Students can check the official website for cut off marks. Students who are applying through SCB need to qualify the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT). IAT will be an online test and will be conducted in June.
The candidates will be selected on the basis of entrance exam. The dates will be notified soon. Those who clear the test will get admissions at the IISER campuses in Berhampur, Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram and Tirupati.
IISER Special Aptitude Test Pattern (IAT): For this, NCERT 11th and 12th class syllabus are taken as standard. The aptitude test is in Objective type. There will be 15 questions each from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology. Students will be given 180 minutes to answer 60 questions. Each question will carry 3 marks and one mark will be deducted for every wrong response. This test is conducted online. All the questions in the entrance test are meant to test the students’ analytical and logical abilities. IIT-JEE Mains, Advanced level.
The test will be conducted across the country at 17 centers in the Telugu states. Among them are Anantapur, Eluru, Guntur, Kakinada, Kurnool, Nellore, Rajahmundry, Tirupati, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Vijayanagaram, Hyderabad, Karimnagar, Khammam, Mahabubnagar, Nizamabad and Warangal.
