Inspire fellowship 2022 notification has been released by DST on its inspire official website. The Department of Science and Technology invites applications for INSPIRE faculty fellowship scheme. The scheme offers post-doctoral fellowships to young achievers with an opportunity for independent research. Interested and eligible students can apply at online-inspire.gov.in. The last date for application is October 4.
To be eligible for the fellowship, a candidate should be an Indian citizen or a person of Indian origin with PIO status having PhD degree (in science, mathematics, engineering, pharmacy, medicine and agriculture-related subjects) from any recognised university. Candidates should possess a minimum of 60 per cent (or equivalent CGPA) marks throughout their academic profile starting from the higher secondary examination (class 12 onwards).
Those who have submitted their PhD theses and are awaiting the award of the degree shall also be eligible. However, selection for the fellowship will be confirmed only after the PhD degree is awarded. The upper age limit is 32 years as on January 1, 2022. The Department of Science and Technology has invited applications from Ph.D. scholars for fellowship under the Innovation in Science Pursuit as part of the Inspired Research (INSPIRE) Faculty Fellowship scheme.
Under the scheme, post-doctoral fellowships are provided to young achievers with Ph.D. qualifications. The fellowship is given for a period of five years to carry out post-doctoral research in both basic and applied science area including medicine, agriculture, engineering, and veterinary sciences. Candidates can apply for the same through INSPIRE web portal official site.
KVPY Fellowship (Inspire Fellowship)
Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana, KVPY Exam has been cancelled and will no longer be conducted 2022 onwards. The Department of Science and Technology, DST has announced the KYPY Fellowship programme. Instead, DST will now be combining the KVPY fellowship with the INSPIRE fellowship. As per the official notice on kvpy.iisc.ernet.in, DST has decided to subsume KVPY with INSPIRE. KVPY Aptitude test will not be conducted from the year 2022 onwards. Ongoing KVPY fellows will continue to receive fellowship as per norms from DST.
Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research, INSPIRE is a fellowship programme under the Department of Science and Technology to encourage the youth of Indian to pursue science from an early age and build the required critical human resource pool for strengthening and expanding the Science & Technology system and R & D base.
IISc Bangalore announced the KVPY Results 2022 recently on June 24, 2021 and the merit lists were issued for all three streams – SA, SB and SX. Students who have received the fellowship grant up to 2021 will continue to be supported. From 2022 and onwards, the exam will be combined with INSPIRE and will be conducted under one name by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.
KVPY fellowship was an initiative to attract highly motivated students for pursuing basic science courses and research careers in science. The test was conducted by IISc Bangalore on behalf of DST and the fellowships were provided to selected students up to the pre-PhD level.

Eligibility Criteria: In order to be eligible to apply for the fellowship, candidates must be between the age of 27 and 32 years. The upper age limit has been relaxed for women candidates and those belonging to the SC and ST categories. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree from any recognised university in the world in pharmacy, medicine, or any related subject. Those who have submitted their theses and awaiting their degree can also apply.
In addition, candidates must have scored at least 60 per cent or equivalent CGPA marks throughout their academic profile starting from class 12 onwards. Candidates who are within top 1 per cent in class 12 examination, IIT-JEE rank holders, and 1st rank holders in either graduation or post-graduation will be preferred.
The final selection of a candidate will be done after a three-tier process where application evaluation will be done by discipline-based expert committees (INSA), followed by the recommendations of apex level committee (INSA) and INSPIRE faculty award council (DST).
Each selected INSPIRE faculty fellow will be eligible to receive a consolidated amount of Rs 1,25,000 per month as fellowship. In addition, a research grant of Rs 7 lakh every year for 5 years will also be provided to each successful candidate including the carryforward amount, if any, from the previous year.

How much is fellowship amount?
On successful selection for the fellowship, a candidate will be awarded a consolidated amount of Rs 1,25,000 per month with annual increment of Rs 2,000. In addition, a Research Grant of Rs 7 lakh will also be given every year for five years.
