KVPY Fellowship 2023 – Apply for Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana Fellowship Awards at http://kvpy.iisc.ac.in/. The “Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana” (KVPY) is a program started in 1999 by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India to encourage students who are studying Basic Sciences to take up research career in Science.

The aim of the program is to identify and encourage talented and motivated students to pursue career in research. KYPY Fellowships are National Fellowships for students interested in Research Careers. Selection is open to Indian nationals for study in India.

An ongoing National Program of Fellowships in Basic Sciences to attract exceptionally motivated students to pursue research career in Basic Sciences. Funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India and implemented by the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru.

This program aims to assist the students to realize their potential and to ensure that the best scientific talent is groomed for research and development in the country. Generous fellowship And contingency grant are provided to the selected KVPY Fellows up to the pre Ph.D. level or 5 years whichever is earlier. In addition, summer camps for the KVPY Fellows are organized in prestigious research and educational institutions in the country.

Inspire Fellowship (KVPY Fellowship)

The DST has decided to discontinue the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana from 2023 onwards. Now, the fellowship programme has been subsumed under the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research programme. As per KVPY Website notice, Department of Science and Technology has decided to subsume KVPY with INSPIRE. KVPY Aptitude test will not be conducted from the year 2023 onwards. Ongoing KVPY fellows will continue to receive fellowship as per norms from DST.

The KVPY was a national program of Fellowship in Basic Sciences, initiated and funded by the DST. Generous fellowships were provided up to the pre-PhD level to the selected KVPY fellows whose selection was carried out through a national level entrance examination.

Objective of DST under INSPIRE programme is to not conduct competitive exams to identify talent at any level. It relies on the efficacy of the existing educational structure for identification of talent. Under the programme, internships, fellowships, and scholarships are provided to talented students. Under the INSPIRE fellowship programme, the selection is carried out through a two-tier process which includes screening eligible applications by an Internal Committee, followed by final selection through an expert committee.

KVPY Aptitude Test 2023 Details

How to get a Rs.5,000 scholarship per month for Students?: Costs are rising with the changing situations along with time. The Indian Institute of Science Bangalore has brought good news for students, who are studying fresh degree course. IISC Bangalore is ready to give a scholarship of Rs.5,000 to degree students per month. Interested students can apply for fellowships offered under the name of Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) by IISC. The IISC angalore said that students should apply through online mode at the official website – http://kvpy.iisc.ernet.in/ up to October 19th.

Applicants are required to appear for the KVPY Aptitude Test 2023 on the above said date. There are examination centers for Telugu students in eight districts in both the states. Provides fellowships at the rate of Rs.5,000 for degree students. The fee for OBC and General candidates to apply is Rs.1,250 while for SC, ST and Divyangas it is Rs.625.

The Department of Science and Technology, the nodal agency of the Government has entrusted the overall responsibility for organizing and running the KVPY Program to the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and set up a Management Committee and a National Advisory Committee (NAC) for overseeing its implementation. A core committee looks after both the day-to-day and academic aspects of the KVPY Program.

The Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, offers attractive fellowships (Rs.5,000/- Rs.7000/- p.m.) and contingency grants (equivalent to four months fellowship per annum) to students studying in 1st year program in basic science course such as B.Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S. Selection to the program takes into account the academic excellence and skills to take up research career in Basic Sciences.

Eligibility for KVPY Fellowship Award 2021: The KVPY Fellowships are given to Indian Nationals only to Study in India (Students holding PIO, OCI Card and students intending to pursue/pursing under graduate program under Distance Education scheme /correspondence course of any university are not eligible to apply).

Students enrolled in an undergraduate course in Basic Sciences, that is, B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S. in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Cell Biology, Ecology, Molecular Biology, Botany, Zoology, Physiology, Biotechnology, Neurosciences, Bioinformatics, Marine Biology, Geology, Human Biology, Genetics, Biomedical Sciences, Applied Physics, Geophysics, Materials Science or Environmental Science.

Stream SA

Eligibility for KVPY Fellowship Stream SA: Students enrolled in XI Standard (Science Subjects) during the academic year 2020-21 and have secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST & PWD) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects in the X Board examination are eligible to appear for the aptitude Test.

The fellowship of the students selected under this stream will be activated only if they join for an under graduate course in Basic Science (B. Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S. ) in the academic year 2022-23 after having secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST & PWD) marks in aggregate in Science Subjects in the XII Standard /(+2) Board Examination. During the interim period of one year they will be invited for National Science (Vijyoshi) Camp and their travel expenses and local hospitality will be met by KVPY.

Stream SX

Eligibility for KVPY Fellowship Stream SX: Students enrolled in XII Standard / (+2) (Science Subjects) during the academic year 2020–21 and aspiring to join undergraduate program in Basic Sciences (B.Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S.) for the session 2021–22 during the academic year having secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST & PWD) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects in the X Standard Board Examination are eligible to appear for the aptitude test.

The Fellowship of the students selected under this stream will be activated only if they join for an undergraduate course in Basic Science (B.Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S.) in the academic year 2021-22 after having secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST & PWD) marks in aggregate in SCIENCE subjects in the XII standard/(+2) Board Examination.

Stream SB

Eligibility for KVPY Fellowship Stream SB: Students enrolled in the 1st year of B. Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S. during the academic year 2020–21 and have secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST&PWD) marks in aggregate in SCIENCE subjects both in the XII Standard / (+2) Board Examination and 1st year of B.Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S. are eligible to appear for the aptitude Test.

KVPY Fellowship Amount

• KVPY Fellowship Exam Mode: A computer based online version of the aptitude Test will be conducted at the selected cities.
• Mock Test of KVPY Aptitude Test: For the benefit of students, a Mock Test of KVPY aptitude Test for Online mode of examination is also available. For more details visit KVPY Website (http://www.kvpy.iisc.ernet.in).

Selection Process for KVPY

Aptitude Test: After scrutiny of application forms and meeting the eligibility criteria for various streams, all eligible students will be called for a written aptitude test conducted both in Hindi and English at different centers across the country on Sunday, the 3rd November. The details of the venue of the aptitude test for the eligible students and their seat number will be published in the KVPY website during the second week of October.

• Interview: Based on the performance in the aptitude test, short-listed students will be asked to appear for an interview which is the final stage of the selection procedure.
• Important Note: KVPY Fellowship Will Be Awarded Solely Based On Aptitude Test. No Interviews Will Be Conducted this year.
• Application Fee: For General category Rs.1250/- (Rupees one thousand two hundred and fifty only) and Rs.625/- (Rupees six hundred twenty five only) for Students belonging to SC/ST/Persons With Disabilities. Application fee once paid will not be refunded.

Necessary Documents: Please follow the instructions and submit all the documents online through the website.

• Caste certificate issued and duly signed by the competent authority (GOI) in the prescribed proforma in the case of students belonging to SC/ST.
• Medical certificate from the prescribed authority (GOI) in the case of physically and visually challenged students certifying the percentage of disability.

How to Apply for KVPY Fellowship: The candidates should ensure they fulfill the prescribed eligibility norms of KVPY before applying. Their admission to the Aptitude Test will be purely provisional subject to satisfying of the eligibility conditions. Candidates can apply through online mode only.

Applications are invited from Indian Nationals. However, as per the interim order (Final Order awaited) of the Hon’ble High Court of Karnataka OCI/PIO Students will be allowed to write the KVPY Aptitude Test. The KVPY fellowship is available to the students who have enrolled as a regular students of UG Program in Basic Science course in any College/Institution of a University recognized in India. KVPY Fellowship Admit Card: Students who have applied online may download the admit card for the aptitude test from the website from the second week of January.

Important Dates for KVPY Aptitude Test

Exam Date: KVPY Aptitude Test 2021 will be held at various centres across the country. Note: KVPY reserves the right to postpone the aptitude test due to any reason, including the prevailing situation arising from the coronavirus pandemic. – KVPY Website
