The announcement has been made for admission into sixth class of the coming academic year 2021-22 in Navodaya Vidyalayas across the country. Those who show talent in the written exam will be selected. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya has started the JNV Class 6 admission process. All students currently in fifth grade are eligible.

JNVST – JNV Selection Test for Class 6 Admissions

There are approximately 661 Navodaya Vidyalayas per district across country, excluding Tamil Nadu. Each Navodaya Vidyalaya can admit a maximum of 80 students in the sixth class.

Fifth class students should appear for the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) to join in the 2020-2021 academic year. Candidates must be studied in the current academic year in the district seeking admission.

Students are eligible to write the JNV Selection test only once. 75 per cent of the seats are filled with students studying in rural areas. Students aspiring for a seat in the rural quota must have completed grades 3, 4, 5 in a Government school located in a fully rural area or other recognized schools.

The remaining 25 percent goes to other regions. One-third of the total seats are reserved for girls. SCs have 15 per cent, STs 7.5 per cent and OBCs have 27 per cent seats. There are a few seats for the disabled.

Eligibility for JNVST 2021:

  • Studying in Class V in Academic Session 2020-21 in a recognized school in the same district where JNV is opened and to which they are seeking admission.
  • Born between 01-05-2008 and 30-04-2012 ( both dates inclusive)
  • Studied and passed classes III & IV from Govt./ Govt. recognized the school.
  • Currently studying in Class V from any school recognized by Government during 2020-21.
  • Studied full academic sessions in each class. Study for a full academic session in Class V from the same district from where admission is sought.

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test 2021 – JNV Selection Test for admission to Class-VI in JNVs for the academic session 2021-22 will be held in On 11-08-2021 at 11.30 A.M in one phase for all Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas. The last date to submit online application is 29th December 2020.

  • The online platform is in open source and free of cost. The application may be submitted from any source like laptop, mobile, tablet etc. The eligible candidates can fill his application from any source along with the following document:
  • Class V Study Certificate: Duly filled certificate from the Head Master of School where the candidate is studying in Class V.
  •  The format of the certificate is enclosed.
  • Photograph: Scanned Photograph of the candidate.
  • Signatures: Scanned Signatures of candidate and parent
  • Documents Size: Size of all documents shall be between 10-100 KB in size
  • Print out: Print out of submitted application may be taken for future reference after successful submission.

  • Registration for JNVST 2020 involves two stages.
  • Stage 1. Registration of Name and Mobile Number

  • Registration Number: Registration Number will be delivered on your registered Mobile Number by SMS
  • Submit Application Form: Data can be saved on the portal before final submission of the application.
  • Upload Certificates: The eligible candidates have to upload a certificate issued by the HM/Principal where the candidate is studying in class V with the photograph along with signatures of self and his /her parent/guardian.

Payment of Online Fee: A sum of Rs. 600/- per month is collected from the students of Classes IX to XII only towards Vidyalaya Vikas Nidhi. Students belonging to SC/ST categories, Girl students and the students whose family income is below the poverty line (BPL) are exempted.

In respect of wards of Government employees other than exempted category (Students of classes VI to VIII, all SC/ST & girls students and wards of BPL families) Vikas Nidhi will be charged @ Rs.1500/- per month or actual children education allowance received by the parent per month whichever is less. However, VVN shall not be less than Rs.600/- per student per month.

Nature of JNVST 2021: Objective type test of two hours duration carrying 100 marks with 50% weightage for mental Ability, 25% for Arithmetic & 25% for Language. JNVST will be conducted in 19 Indian languages. For details, visit www.navodaya.gov.in

  1. How to make applications?

    Applications should be made online. Students can submit JNVST application form at navodaya.gov.in website.

  2. Who is eligible for JNVST sixth class applications?

    Those born between 01-05-2008 to 30.4.2012 should be studying 5th standard in government and government recognized schools are eligible for JNVST 6th Class application.

  3. Do reservations apply to admissions in the sixth class?

    • A Candidate claiming admission under rural quota must have studied and passed classes III, IV and V from a Govt. / Govt. aided / recognized school spending one full academic session each year in a school located in rural area.
      So, Village Level like Rural Area Schools also

    Can I get entrance exam in class 7 or class 8 studied from another govt rural school.
    It is possible to be attended entrance test.

  4. I am the father whose my son applied for entrance exam 2020-2021 but due covid19 the exam which was fixed to be held on 11th of April 2020 not conducted. The same exam was conducted on the 7th November 2020 with only two weeks notice, so we are staying in every remote area where network is very poor and it is difficult to access network, from school where he is studying also mo no information but if the authority give time one month we will be able to gather information so we can send our son and due to this urgency conducting of entrance exam without thinking the poor people who are staying in the very remote area, our son lost this opportunity. Now request the authority to conduct one more entrance for those who didn’t get information about the conduct of exam or please select the candidate who are under BPL.

    THIS ACADEMIC YEAR HOW IS POSSIBLE TO ATTEND THE 5 CLASS FULL ATTENDANCE BECAUSE THIS IS YEAR IS COVID 19. SO, ANY RELAXATION IN ATTENDENCE

    • Once read the Covid-19 guidelines which were released by the concerned School Education Department. Choice is for Student.
      Student can attend the online classes or student can attend the offline classes. Relaxation is application in attendance.
