Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) is one of India’s leading government school networks, and gaining Admission is highly competitive.
The admission process for Kendriya Vidyalaya Balvatika has now begun. Previously, KV offered classes only from Class 1 onwards and did not have a preschool system.

Kendriya Vidyalaya Balvatika is a pre-primary education initiative established under the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS). It aims to provide early education for children aged 3 to 6 years, following the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The curriculum emphasizes interactive and play-based learning to promote holistic development and build a strong foundation for future schooling. Balvatika is an alternative to Nursery, LKG, and UKG, which were traditionally offered only in private schools.
How to Get Admission?
Admissions to Kendriya Vidyalaya Balvatika are conducted according to the guidelines set by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan. The eligibility criteria for the 2025-26 session are as follows:
- Bal Vatika 1: Children aged 3 to 4 years (as of March 31, 2025)
- Bal Vatika 2: Children aged 4 to 5 years
- Bal Vatika 3: Children aged 5 to 6 years
Application Process
Bal Vatika 1 and 3: Applications must be submitted online at http://kvsonlineadmission.kvs.gov.in. The 2025-26 session application window is open from March 7 to March 21, 2025.
Bal Vatika 2: Applications for Bal Vatika 2 must be submitted offline at the respective KV schools between April 2 and April 11, 2025, subject to seat availability.
Selection Process
There is no entrance exam for Admission. The selection is conducted through a lottery system, giving priority as follows:
- Children of Central Government Employees
- 25% of seats are reserved for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/BPL children under the Right to Education (RTE) Act
- Children of State Government employees, private sector employees, etc.
- The first provisional list of selected candidates will be released on March 26, 2025.

- SC/ST/OBC/EWS certificate (if applicable)
KVS Balvatika Fees
- Kendriya Vidyalaya Vikas Nidhi (KVVN) Fee: Rs. 500 per month
- Tuition Fees: No tuition fees are generally charged at the pre-primary level. However, additional fees may apply for specific categories based on KVS policies.
- Total Monthly Fees: Approximately Rs. 500 (including KVVN), which amounts to Rs. 1,500 per quarter.
Fee Exemptions
RTE Quota: Children admitted under the 25% RTE quota (SC/ST/OBC/EWS) are exempt from fees, provided they submit the necessary certificates.
Children of Central Government Employees: A minimum fee applies, but some exemptions may be granted under special provisions.
Single Girl Child: Fee exemptions are available for single girl children from Class 1 onwards, but this does not explicitly apply to Balvatika.

- Fill in the child’s and parents’ details.
- Upload the required documents.
- Submit the application form.
- Take a printout for future reference.
Important note:
- Balvatika is not available in all Kendriya Vidyalayas. Currently, around 450+ schools offer this facility.
- Bal Vatika classes run 3 hours a day, 5 days a week.
- No uniform is mandatory, reducing additional expenses.
