IIM Bangalore, in collaboration with the Ministry of Skill Development, Government of India, has released the Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship 2021 or MGNF 2021 notification for the academic year 2021-2023. Candidates who are interested join this program can apply online at MGNF Website.
MGNF is hosted by nine IIMs across the country (IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Jammu, IIM Kozhikode, IIM Lancashire, IIM Nagpur, IIM Ranchi, IIM Udaipur and IIM Visakhapatnam. The Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship (MGNF) is an opportunity for young, dynamic individuals to contribute to enhancing skill development and promote economic development.
The 2 year Fellowship seeks to combine classroom sessions (Academic Module) host IIMs with an intensive field immersion at the district level (District Immersion) to create credible plans and identify barriers in raising employment, economic output, and promote livelihoods in rural areas. MGNF is a Certificate Program in Public Policy and Management offered by IIMs.
It has been designed at the initiative of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India (GoI) and implemented in collaboration with State Skill Development Missions (SSDMs). Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship Application 2021-23: Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and 9 IIMs combined have commenced the application process for MGNF.

MGNF is a two-year blended program that consists of sessions at IIMs classes and an opportunity to promote skill planning and development in district economies. This year the Fellowship is hosted by IIM Bangalore.

- Should be a citizen of India
- Age between 21-30 years at the time of application
- At least a graduate in any discipline (Engineering, Law, Medicine, Social Sciences, etc.) from a recognized university or a post-graduate from a recognized university.
- Three years of work experience after secondary schooling in the social/non-profit sector with an interest in working in rural areas is preferred. However, individuals with no work experience and a strong motivation to work in this area may apply.
- Should be able to express proficiency in the local language of the state that they will work in.
Selection Procedure: The selection process will be based on entrance test and personal interview.
Stipend: The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship is offering a stipend of Rs.50,000 per month for the first year and Rs.60,000 per month for the second year to the candidates selected for the 2021-2023 MGNF program.
Examination Pattern: This examination will be in the form of Multiple Choice Questions. It is conducted for 100 marks. This includes questions from the sections on General Awareness, Quantitative Ability, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning, and Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension. The test will take place in the third week of April 2021. Candidates who qualify in the written test will be called for a personal interview.
Exams be physically conducted in the capital of all states. The MGNF entrance exam is a paper-based exam. No candidate will be allowed to leave the examination hall/room before the test concludes.
The scoring scheme for Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) is as follows:
- Each correct answer is awarded 3 marks.
- An incorrect answer fetches -1.
- No marks are given or deducted for unattempt questions.
- MGNF entrance exam is for 2 Hours.
