Cooking Cost per Child per Day w.e.f 01-04-2019:
I. Primary Stage:
a. Cooking Cost per child per day:  Rs. 4.48
b. 60:40 non-NER States and UTs with legislature: Rs.2.69 | Rs.1.79
c. 90:10 NER and 3 Himalayan States: Rs.4.03 | Rs.0.45
d. 100% for UTs without legislature: Rs.4.48

II. Upper Primary:
a. Cooking Cost per child per day:  Rs. 6.71
b. 60:40 non-NER States and UTs with the legislature: Rs.4.03 | Rs.2.68
c. 90:10 NER and 3 Himalayan States: Rs.6.04 | Rs.0.67
d. 100% for UTs without legislature: Rs.6.71

Subject: Revision of cooking cost @3.09% w.e.f. 01.04.2019 during-2020-2020 under National Programme of Mid Day Meal in Schools (NP-MDMS) – regarding.

Sir/ Madam,
I am directed to say that it has been decided with the approval of the competent authority to increase the cooking cost by 3.09% under National Programme of Mid Day Meal in schools w.e.f. 1st  April-2020 for the year-2020-2020 over and above the existing cooking cost.

The cooking cost will be shared between the Centre and States in the ratio of 60:40 for non-North Eastern Region (NER) States & UTs with the legislature, 100% for UTs without legislature and 90:10 for the NER States and 3 Himalayan States viz. Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir and Uttarakhand. The rates of cooking cost admissible w.e.f. 01.04.2019 during-2020-220 for Primary and Upper Primary classes would be as under:

2. The above cooking cost rates indicate the minimum mandatory contribution by the State Governments/UT Administrations. However, States / UTs may contribute more than their prescribed share, as some States/UTs had been contributing more than their minimum mandatory share from their own resources for providing meals with better nutrition under Mid Day Meal Scheme.

3. You are requested to disseminate the above increase in the cooking cost to all concerned and the field functionaries up to school/cooking agency level to ensure prompt implementation of the revised cooking cost with effect from 01.04.2019.

4. This issues with the approval of the IFD, MHRD vide Dy. No. 1728/2019 dated 21 .06.2019. | Revision of cooking cost w.e.f. 1st April,-2020
