National Sanitation Campaign
The Telangana State government working out srategies to successfully implement national sanitation campaign scheduled to begin the country from today onwards i.e Sptember 25. The Compaign aims at creating a clean and better environment for people by organizing several awareness programmes,
The campaign will coninue with the aim of spreading awareness about the importance of sanitation and cleanliness at the gram sabha and gram panchayat level, the central government has decided to observe “Swatchh Panchayat Saptah” from September 25up to October 23 in rural areas. In this subject a detailed action plan has been prepared for the campaign.
The departments associated with the campaign are rural development, housing and urban development, school and mass education, health and family welfare, women and child development and information and public relations.
National Sanitation Campaign:
This ‘saptah’ will be part of the national sanitation campaign to held from September 25 to October 23. In this campaign the district officials and others to carry out activities including cleaning of houses, surrounding areas, animal shelters, schools, anganwadi markets, drinking water sources, removing blockages in drains and spraying DDT during the ‘saptah’.
- A special emphasis should be laid on the tree plantation drive in villages, the letter states.
- The letter states that government officials including ANMs, ASHA and Anganwari workers should also be involved in the campaign.
- A volunteer group will also be formed by panchayats to give a boost to the campaign
- A core team or sanitation monitoring committee will also be formed at the panchayat level which will be headed by the sarpanch with the chairman of the village health nutrition and sanitation committee as one of the three members.
- Members of non-government organisations, community clubs, Bharat Nirman volunteers, self-help groups should also be involved for the success of the mission.
- Competitions on the subject of sanitation should also be held in schools for awareness of school kids. Panchayats have also been asked to keep records of all activities during this week.
