**Schools in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to Operate on Half-Day Schedule**
With summer officially setting in across various parts of India, particularly in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the region is experiencing scorching heat. To address the difficulties children face in attending school assemblies and sitting through hours of classes in such high temperatures, the state governments of both AP and Telangana have decided to limit school hours.
**Half-Day Schools Announced by Andhra Pradesh Government**
In order to prioritize the safety and well-being of students, the Andhra Pradesh government has announced a half-day schedule for all schools—including government, Zilla Parishad, Municipal, Private-Aided, and Private-Recognized Unaided Schools—from March 15 to April 23, 2025. Classes for grades 1 to 9 will run from 7:45 AM to 12:30 PM. However, schools serving as SSC examination centers will conduct classes in the afternoon from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
**Telangana Government Implements Half-Day School Schedule Amid Rising Temperatures**
Similarly, the Telangana government has issued orders for half-day school operations. According to these directives, all government-aided and privately owned primary, upper primary, and high schools will function from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM from March 15 to April 23, 2025. Students will receive a mid-day meal at 12:30 PM and then be free to return home.
The Director of School Education also informed us that special classes will continue for SSC students preparing for their board examinations. Schools for these students will operate from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
With the early onset of the summer season in the State, the Education department has decided on half-day schools, which will commence on March 15.
Regardless of the management, the schools will work half-day until the last working day of the academic year, April 23.
Classes will be conducted from 8 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. as part of the half-day schools. Students in the government schools will be served the mid-day meal after class work.

However, in schools that have been designated as SSC Public Exams centres, mid-day meal is provided first followed by classes in the afternoon.
Special classes will be conducted for those appearing for the SSC Public Examinations 2024 post lunch.
