Use of Snehabala Cards & Katha vaachakalu(Story Books, Story Cards) under ELP: SSA Telangana, Proc.Rc.No.1978,Dated: 30.06.2016.Subject: SSA, Telangana State, Hyderabad – Early Literacy Programme (ELP) – Use of Snehabala Cards and Katha vaachakalu (Story Books and Story Cards) in all schools in the State -Reg. Reference: Letter Rc.No. F.108/DEE/2015-16/941, Dt: 24.05.2016 received from the Prof & Head, DEE, NCERT, New Delhi.
All the District Educational Officers, the Project Officers of SSA in the state are informed that SSA is giving special focus on developing reading and writing abilities of Classes I & II by implementing the principles of the Early Literacy Programme (Padhe Bharath- Bade Bharath program). In this regard, SSA has sent guidelines (in June 2016) to implement the School Readiness program as part of ELP in the state.
The state government is also allotted a period to improve children’s reading abilities and provided children literature i.e.,
Katha Vaachakalu (Storybooks, cards),
Snehabala cards etc to all schools in the state.
In the same manner, NCERT has also developed a children magazine “Firkee-bachchon ki” in simple English and Hindi and uploaded it to the NCERT website.
Further, it is noticed that many Mandal Resource Centers kept aside SNEHABALA cards, Children literature (Story Cards, Storybooks), etc., and not distributed to schools. The DEOs and P.Os of SSA are requested
1. To take immediate steps i.e. to instruct the MEOs, School Complex H.Ms to distribute those materials lying in MRCs to schools.
2. To instruct the MEOs, School Complex H.Ms to download the magazine “Firkee-Bachcho ki” from NCERT website www.ncert.in and discuss the relevant content in school complex meetings and take necessary steps to improve the children’s’ reading habits.
3. To send the copy of proceedings ( the proceedings sent to MEOs) to pedagogy wing mail id email@example.com
The Principals of DIETs are requested to download the magazine “Firkee-Bachcho ki” from the NCERT website www.ncert.in and use the relevant content wherever and whenever it is necessary.
