In the letters read above, the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (HoFF), Telangana State, Hyderabad has submitted a proposal to establish Forest College and Research Institute (FCRI) within the premises of the existing Mulugu Forest Research Institute in Narasampally Reserve Forest, Medak District to provide quality higher and gainful education in the field of forestry, research and extension activities and to produce professional foresters. He has also requested for allocation of required budget of Rs.45.79 Crores towards capital expenditure and Rs. 6.80 Crores towards recurring expenditure.
TSFCRI OBJECTIVE:
The objective of proposed institutions is to impart education in basic and applied forestry to the students and also to provide research and employment opportunities on forestry and related fields. In addition extensive training and awareness programmes for farmers, NGOs and government functionaries shall also be undertaken by the Forest College and Research Institute (FCRI), Mulugu.
After careful examination of the proposal of the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Telangana State, Hyderabad, Government hereby accord administrative sanction for establishment of Forest College and Research Institute (FCRI) within the premises of existing Mulugu Forest Research Institute in Narasampally Reserve Forest, Medak District, duly allocating required budget of Rs.45.79 Crores towards capital expenditure and Rs. 6.80 Crores towards recurring expenditure.
Forestry Courses:
The following Degree and Ph.D. programmes will be offered in the Forest College and Research Institute (FCRI):
Degree Programmes, Duration of course and Minimum intake of students
1. B.Sc. (Forestry) – 4 years – 50
2. M.Sc. (Forestry) – 2 years – 36
3. Ph.D. (Forestry) – 3 years – 18
The manpower requirement including faculty, administrative and supporting staff for the proposed Forest College and Research Institute (FCRI) shall be either recruited / out sourced or taken on deputation basis, after getting approval of the Government.
The proposed Forest College and Research Institute (FCRI), Mulugu will be run by State Forest Department of Telangana and managed by the Board which will be nominated by Government of Telangana State.
The Forest College and Research Institute (FCRI) shall be affiliated to Sri Konda Laxman Telangana State Horticultural University, Hyderabad and Indian Council of Forestry Research & Education (ICFRE), Dehradun / Government of India. Necessary approvals shall be obtained in this regard. Simultaneously proposals shall also be submitted to the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Pusa, New Delhi to get accreditation and budgetary support.
The Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Telangana State, Hyderabad shall take further necessary action. This order issues with the concurrence of Finance (EBS.VIII) Department vide their U.O.No.12586/365/15, dt.09.10.2015.
