GO.7 Funeral expenses Scheme Amount Enhanced, Government of Telangana, Labour, Employment, Training & Factories Department – The Building and other Construction Workers (RE&CS) Act, 1996

Implementation of Welfare Schemes by the Telangana Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board – Scheme to provide Funeral expenses in case of death of building & other construction worker and arrangement for transportation of the body in case of accidental death – Enhancement of amount from Rs.10,000/- to Rs.20,000/- – Orders – Issued.

ORDER:
In the G.O. 2nd read above, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has enhanced Funeral expenses in case of death of the building & other construction worker and charges for transportation of the body to the native place within the State from Rs.5,000/- to Rs.10,000/-.

  1. In the letter 4th read above, the Commissioner of Labour, Telangana has submitted a proposal based on the resolution made in the 2nd Board meeting of the Telangana Building & Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board held on 31.03.2015, for enhancement of amount from Rs.10,000/- to Rs.20,000/- towards funeral expenses in case of death of building & other construction worker and arrangement for transportation of the body in case of accidental death w.e.f. 01.05.2015.
  2. In the circumstances reported by the Commissioner of Labour, Telangana, Hyderabad and after careful examination of the proposal, Government hereby order to enhance the existing amount from Rs.10,000/- (Rupees ten thousand only) to Rs.20,000/- (Rupees twenty thousand only) towards funeral expenses in case of death of building & other construction worker and arrangement for transportation of the body in case of accidental death in terms of sub Rule (L) of Rule-33 of the Andhra Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers (RE&CS) Rules, 1999 read with section 22 of the Building & Other Construction Workers (RE&CS) Act, 1996, with the following guidelines w.e.f. 01.05.2015:

(i) An amount of Rs.20,000/- (Rupees twenty thousand only) shall be paid towards funeral expenses in every case of death of registered building and other construction worker irrespective of the death occurring naturally or due to an accident occurring either in the workplace or anywhere else.

(ii) An amount of Rs.20,000/- (Rupees twenty thousand only) shall also be paid towards funeral expenses in cases of death of un-registered building and other construction workers occurring in accident in the course of employment.

(iii) The amount towards funeral expenses s hall be paid before funeral rites take place, to the next kith and kin of the deceased worker nominee / dependant of the deceased worker so as to serve the intended purpose.

(iv) The enhanced amount of funeral expenses is applicable only to the deaths took place on or after 01.05.2015.

(v) The amount towards funeral expenses shall be paid by the Deputy Commissioner of Labour of the concerned District.

(vi) The Deputy Commissioner of Labour of the concerned District shall also pay charges for transportation of the body of the deceased building worker irrespective of registered or unregistered who died in an accident in the course of employment, to his native place within the State @ Rs.20/- (Rupees twenty only) per K.M.

(vii) In case the funeral expenses is not paid before funeral rites, the amount of Rs.20,000/- (Rupees twenty thousand only) shall be paid along with the amount of relief sanctioned on death, without requiring a separate claim for funeral expenses. GO.7 Funeral expenses Scheme Amount Enhanced

  1. The Commissioner of Labour, Telangana, Hyderabad and the Secretary & Chief Executive Officer, Telangana Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, Hyderabad shall take necessary action accordingly.
  2. This order does not require concurrence of Finance Department as per rules in force.
