ORDER: In the G.O. 4th read above, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has enhanced relief to registered building & other construction workers who met with an accident either in the work place or anywhere else resulting in total permanent disability / partial permanent disability to Rs.2,00,000/-.
In the letter 6th read above, the Commissioner of Labour, Telangana has submitted a proposal based on the resolution made in the 2nd Board meeting of the Telangana Building & Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board held on 31.03.2015, for enhancement of amount from Rs.2,00,000/- to Rs.3,00,000/- as relief to the registered building & other construction workers who met with an accident either in the work place or anywhere else resulting in total permanent disability / partial permanent disability w.e.f. 01.05.2015.
In the circumstances reported by the Commissioner of Labour, Telangana, Hyderabad and after careful examination of the proposal, Government hereby order to enhance the existing amount from Rs.2,00,000/- (Rupees two lakhs only) to Rs.3,00,000/- (Rupees three lakhs only) towards relief to registered building & other construction workers who met with an accident either in the work place or anywhere else resulting in total permanent disability / partial permanent disability in terms of sub Rule (L) of Rule-33 of the Andhra Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers (RE&CS) Rules, 1999 read with section 22 of the Building & Other Construction Workers (RE&CS) Act, 1996, with the following guidelines w.e.f. 01.05.2015:
(i) The Scheme is applicable to the registered building and other construction worker as a beneficiary with the Board.
(ii) Relief up to Rs.3,00,000/- (Rupees three lakhs) shall be paid to the registered building & other construction worker sustaining injuries caused by an accident occurring either in work place or anywhere else resulting in total permanent disability / partial permanent disability. The extent of the disability relief shall be decided as per procedure laid down under the Employees’ Compensation Act, 1923.
(iii) The enhanced amount under the disability relief is applicable only to the accident taken place on or after 01.05.2015.
(iv) Relief under this scheme is in addition to other relief / compensation that the worker may be entitled to under any other Scheme.
(v) The registered worker shall submit prescribed application form to the concerned officer along with Disability Certificate issued by the Competent Authority, FIR if the case is registered with the police and any other relevant documents in support of their claim.
(vi) The Deputy Commissioner of Labour concerned shall obtain enquiry report from Assistant Labour Officers concerned and place before the District Scrutiny Committee for its scrutiny.
(vii) After scrutiny, if found eligible, the eligible amount shall be released to the saving bank account of the registered building & other construction workers.
- The Commissioner of Labour, Telangana, Hyderabad and the Secretary & Chief Executive Officer, Telangana Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, Hyderabad shall take necessary action accordingly.
