CBSE Teachers and Principals Awards 2023 & How to register at www.cbse.nic.in. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has invited online applications for the CBSE Teachers and Principals Awards 2019 on its official website.

So, CBSE invites applications for teachers awards, winners to get Rs.50,000. Interested and eligible teachers and principals can send in their applications online at cbse.nic.in on or before July 10.

The annual entry for the best teachers and principals has been started. CBSE is inviting applications for the CBSE Teachers and Principals Awards 2019. These awards are conferred every year on September 5 – Teachers’ day. The winners will get a merit certificate and a cash prize of Rs 50,000.

Working teachers with at least 10 years of regular teaching experience in CBSE-affiliated school(s) and principals with 10 years of regular teaching experience and five years as a principal in CBSE-affiliated school(s) can apply for the CBSE Teachers and Principals Award.

Those who have applied earlier but not awarded will be considered again, if eligible. Teachers or principals who have already been awarded CBSE Teachers Award can apply for the National Award for Teachers.

Checking of credentials/supporting documents of the shortlisted applicants will be done by a National Level Scrutiny Committee. The committee will also prepare a merit-list based on scores obtained by a candidate. The names of the top six scorers will be forwarded to the Ministry of HRD for National Teachers Award.

Candidates will be shortlisted based on their qualification, scholarly contributions, mentoring colleagues or fellow teachers, participation in personal and professional development activities in the last 10 years, contributions to the community, membership or leadership position, awards and honours, annual performance, NSSC, NCC guide activities, and student development.

These are generic criteria. Teachers will also be assessed based on specific criteria. This will be specific to their teaching area. Counsellors, special educators, and school librarians and principals will not be assessed under specific criteria, as per rules.

Award:

Selected teachers will be honoured on the occasion of September 5 i.e. Teachers’ Day. Under the award, 50,000/- rupees will be given in cash along with a certificate.

Eligibility:

Teachers who have had the experience of teaching for at least 10 years in CBSE recognized schools are eligible to apply for the awards. For Principals, those with 5 years of experience as a principal in CBSE affiliated schools may apply for the awards.

As per the official notification, A retired teacher or principal is not eligible for the award but those teachers or principals who have served a part of the calendar year (at least for four months i.e. up to 30th April in the year to which National Award/CBSE Award relates) may be considered if they fulfil all other conditions.

For deciding the merit following criteria will be used:

  • a. Experience in related field
  • b. Age
  • c. Higher Qualification
  • d. Percentage in Educational Qualification

However, in case after applying the above criteria for deciding inter se merit there is a tie, then Chairman CBSE may decide any other additional criteria to finalize the merit.

How To Register CBSE Teachers and Principals Awards

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has launched an online portal, inviting applications from teachers and principals as well as teachers to apply for CBSE Teacher awards 2020. The registration has commenced from June 15.

The objective of the new online application system is to bring transparency and objectivity in the entire assessment process. The selection of teachers will be made on the basis of their contributions, academic interest, reputation in the community and commitment towards education.

The Central Board of Secondary Education instituted the ‘Teacher Awards’ under the aegis of MHRD in the year 2000 to give public recognition to the meritorious services of outstanding teachers of schools affiliated to it. Since then, these awards are given every year on Teachers’ Day i.e. 5 September. Each award consists of a merit certificate, a shawl and a cash prize of ₹50,000/-.

The number of CBSE Teachers and Principals Awards 2023:

The number of awards  48. There are 5 awards for Principals and the rest are for various primary secondary and senior secondary subject teachers. For the first time, 10 awards out of 48 have been earmarked for performing arts, special educators, school counsellors, vocational subjects, physical education, and IT teachers also.

Selection criteria:

The National Level Screening Committee at the CBSE headquarters will make the selection on the basis of:

  1. General criteria for all categories of awards, such as academic qualifications, scholarly contributions, functional research, curriculum, community and student development achievements, awards and honour.
  2. Specific criteria, which will cover effectiveness as a teacher, remedial teaching, contribution of the teacher thereof
  3. Face to face interaction
  4. Two videos graphed lessons of 30 minutes each of actual classroom teaching with lesson plans

CSBE Teachers and Principals Award 2023 Schedule:

The online application submission can be done till July 10, 2020, at the official website, www.cbse.nic.in. The shortlisted candidates will be intimated for uploading supporting documents and the entire process will be completed by as per the schedule.

Procedure for Application:
1. Applications for the award would be accepted only through an online web portal. Please click here to register http://cbse.nic.in/newsite/award.html. The last date of submission of the application is 13.07.2020. No other mode of submission of application is allowed.

2. Teachers, Counselors, Special Educators, Trainers and Heads of schools themselves shall apply directly by filling the application form online on or before the prescribed last date.

3. Each applicant shall give an undertaking that all the information/data submitted is true to the best of his/her knowledge. If anything is found to be false at any stage of selection, then he/she will be liable to disciplinary action. Even if the award is conferred, the same will be withdrawn.
