CSIR NET Exam Date 2025 or CSIR NET Exam Date 2025 announced by the National Testing Agency on its official website, csirnet.nta.ac.in.

The exam-conducting body has released the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, National Eligibility Test, or CSIR NET notification.

The exam date has been announced, and it will be held on the notified date. More details will be made available soon by the National Testing Agency, NTA, on the official website, csirnet.nta.nic.in.

Candidates must note that NTA will soon release new details on eligibility, application dates, and how to apply. The exam is usually conducted two times in a year – June and December—separately.  

CSIR NET 2025 will be held to determine the eligibility of candidates for Lectureship/ Assistant Professorship and Junior Research Fellowship in Colleges and Universities of the country. Science Major candidates usually take the exam.

CSIR NET Exam Date Details

National Testing Agency has released the complete schedule for the June session of joint CSIR UGC NET. The exam will be held as per the schedule. Candidates can check the complete schedule below or visit the exam website for more information.

City intimation slip and admit cards for the exam will be displayed on the NTA website. CSIR NET is for Junior Research Fellowships (JRFs) awarded by the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) and for Lectureship (LS)/Assistant Professor posts. The exam is held in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode.

The CSIR NET exam has three parts, all of which consist of objective-type, multiple-choice questions.

In section A of the CSIR Exam, there will be 20 questions of general aptitude, of which students have to answer 15. Each question will be worth two marks. There won’t be any break between the papers.

Section B of the CSIR Exam will have subject-related MCQs. This section will be worth 70 marks. Section C will test the candidate’s knowledge of scientific concepts or application of scientific concepts. This section will have higher-value questions.

The admit card will provide details about the timing of the examination and the examination centre.

Most importantly, candidates should note that NTA will release all the important details related to the exam on the official website.

The exam is usually conducted twice a year, in June and December, respectively. Candidates with a science background usually opt for this exam.

  • The CSIR NET UGC exam will analyse the capabilities of candidates for various positions, such as Lectureship/Assistant Professorship and Junior Research Fellowship, at different colleges and universities.
  • The examination will be conducted in two shifts: the first shift will be from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, and the second shift will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The question paper will be printed in Hindi and English version. 

Candidates who want to apply for the exam should have M.Sc or equivalent degree/ Integrated BS-MS/ BS-4 years/ BE/ BTech/ BPharma/ MBBS with at least 55% marks for General (UR) and OBC candidates and 50% for SC/ST, Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates.

Candidates enrolled in M.Sc or having completed 10+2+3 years of the above qualifying examination as of the closing date for online application submission are also eligible to apply. The upper age limit for JRF (NET) is below 28 years of age, and there is no upper age limit for Lectureship (NET). 

To pass the CSIR NET, candidates need to score at least 55 percent in the exam. The required marks are lowered to 50 percent for candidates belonging to reserved categories.

As per rules, candidates who clear the CSIR NET to pursue research get a stipend. The stipend for junior research fellows (JRF) is Rs 31,000 per month for the first two years, it is increased when the candidate research post of senior research fellow.

The CSIR NET is held for limited subjects: life science, chemical sciences, earth atmospheric ocean and planetary science, physical science, and mathematical sciences.
