Indian Navy Sailor Recruitment 2023 notification released on its official web portal, at joinindiannavy.gov.in. The Indian Navy has invited online applications for unmarried male candidates for enrolment as Sailors on its portal.
As per the official statement, as many as 1500 applicants will be shortlisted for the written test, physical fitness test and medical standards. Those qualifying all the rounds will be selected for 12 weeks of training at INS Chilka.
Online applications are invited from unmarried male candidates (fulfilling conditions of nationality as laid down by the Government of India) for enrolment as sailor for Artificer Apprentice (AA) and Senior Secondary Recruits (SSR) for 500 and 2,000 vacancies (approximately) respectively in the April 2023 batch.

The recruitment is being held to select eligible sports personnel for Direct Entry Petty Officer, Senior Secondary Recruit (SSR) and Matric Recruits (MR). Candidates can apply for Indian Navy Recruitment 2023 through online mode.
Selection Procedure: The selection process will be based on written test, Physical Fitness Test (PFT), Medical Test. Shortlisted based on the percentage of marks obtained in Intermediate. Shortlisted candidates will be selected for written test, PFT.
Examination Procedure: The question paper will be in Hindi & English mediums. The test is objective. It consists of four sections. They are English, Science, Mathematics, General Knowledge. The question paper is at Intermediate level. The relevant syllabus is available on the website. The test time is 1 hour. Candidates appearing for the written test will be required to appear for the Physical Fitness Test on the same day. Must qualify for the Physical Fitness Test.

Eligibility Criteria: A. Direct Entry Petty Officer: (i). Educational Qualifications: Candidates should be 10+2 qualified in any stream or equivalent examination.
ii. Sports Proficiency: Team Games. Should have participated at International /National/State level at junior /senior level or represented a University in the Inter-University tournament. Individual Events. Should have attained a minimum of 6th position in Nationals (seniors) or 3rd position in National (juniors) or 3rd position in the Inter-University meets.
iii. Age: The age limit of the candidate should be between 17 to 22 years as on the date of commencement of course. Candidates should have been born between 01 February 1998 to 31 Jan 2003 (Both dates inclusive).
B. Senior Secondary Recruit (SSR): (i). Educational Qualifications: Candidates should be 10+2 qualified in any stream or equivalent examination. (ii). Sports Proficiency: Should have participated at International/National/State level or represented a University in the Inter-University tournament.
iii. Age: The age of the candidate should be between 17 to 21 years as on the date of commencement of course. Candidates should have been born between 01 Feb 1999 to 31 Jan 2003 (Both dates inclusive).
C. Matric Recruits (MR): (i). Educational Qualifications: Candidates should be 10th /equivalent qualified. (ii).Sports Proficiency: Candidates should have participated in the International/National/State level tournament.
iii. Age: The age of the candidate should be 17 to 21 years as on the date of commencement of course. Candidates should have been born between 01 Apr 1999 to 31 Mar 2003 (Both dates inclusive).
Candidates selected will be enrolled as Logistics (Chef) or Logistics (Stewards) and Hygienist.
Sports Proficiency
- Team Games – Candidates should have participated at International, National or State level or represented a University in the Inter-University tournament.
- Individual Events – A minimum of 6th position in Senior Nationals or 3rd position in Junior National or 3rd position in the Inter-University meets.

Selection Process:
Candidates shortlisted would be called to appear for trials at designated Naval Centres. The candidates qualifying trials will undergo a medical examination at INS Hamla, Mumbai.
Due to Covid-19 pandemic, an exception is being made in the public interest wherein approximately 10000 candidates will be called-up for written examination and PFT. The shortlisting of the candidates for written examination and PFT will be undertaken on the basis of percentage of qualifying examination (10+2 examination). The cut off marks may vary from state to state as vacancies have been allocated in a state-wise manner.
