NSIGSE Scholarship 2023 – National Scheme Incentives to Girls for Secondary Education is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme. MoE has requested to all state’s officials that furnish the details of the beneficiary girls students under NSIGSF scheme for transfer of maturity incentive payments.

Scholarships are being sanctioned under the NSIGSE Scheme under the auspices of the Central Government for students who have completed Class X in Government Schools in the years 2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16, 2016-17. All the District Educational Officers in the State are hereby informed that the Under Secretary to Government of India, MHRD, New Delhi in the reference read above informed that the dates for verification of scholarship applications in respect of NSIGSE for the academic year by Schools/ Institutes have been extended up to 25-09-2021

And District/States have been extended up to 25-09-2021 and also informed that applications marked defective by Schools/ Institutions/ Districts Officers can be corrected and re-submitted by students till 25-09-2021 only.

National Scheme of Incentive to Girls for Secondary Education (NSIGSE) uploading of Bank Account Numbers linked with Aadhar of eligible Girl Students in the NSP portal. All the District Educational Officers in the State are instructed to verify and approve online applications of the students who are enrolled in the NSP (National Scholarship Portal) for the year 2020-21 by 15-12-2021 scrupulously.

National Scheme of Incentives to Girls for Secondary Education is being implemented to promote enrollment of girl child the age group of 14-18 at the secondary stage, especially those who passed Class VIII and to encourage secondary education of such girls, by the Centrally Sponsored Scheme. The eligibility criteria details are given below.

Last Date for Fresh and Renewal Application Registration/Submission for all Scholarship Schemes (Pre Matric / Post Matric / MCM / Top Class) has been extended up to 15-12-2021. No further Extension in timelines shall be given under any circumstances.

Online applications of all scholarship holders under the National Means-cum-merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) and National Scheme of Incentive to Girls for Secondary Education (NSIGSE) of the Department of School Education & Literacy are uploaded by 15-11-2021. No further extension in timelines will be given in this regard.

100% funds are provided by the Central Government for the Scheme. The benefit under the scheme can be availed with any one other scholarship scheme. On maturity, the incentive amount along with interest is transferred directly into bank accounts of students following DBT mode by implementing banks through PFMS platform.

The proposals/list of beneficiaries for the academic year 2020 is required to be submitted/ uploaded on-line over National Scholarship Portal (NSP). The beneficiary girls studying in Class IX need to apply under Pre Matric scholarship category. The beneficiary girls are required to register as new user and then login to apply for incentive amount. For pre-matric scholarship, only two applications can be submitted through one mobile.

The last date for submission of applications on Portal is 15.11.2021. The applications are to be verified at School and District level by 15.10.2021. The State Nodal officers are requested to submit the data/list of beneficiaries on NSP, received form District Education Officer, after approving it, within a week after verification process is over.

Steps to complete the National Scholarship Registration 2023

Girl students are aware of the scholarships that are available on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP portal) and students fulfil the eligibility conditions specified, students can apply for them online. The given steps to be followed for making a successful application on the portal.

  1. Visit the scholarships.gov.in Website

    Students need to visit the official website of the NSP portal, https://scholarships.gov.in in your device browser.

  2. Click on New User? Register Link

    Once you reach the official website, you click on the New User Registration link on the home page. Applicant should read and understood the guidelines for registration. After tick on the radio buttons, you can click on the Click on the Continue button.

  3. Fill the Fresh Registration Form

    After clicking on that link, a Fresh Registration form would be opened. Now, Select the Pre Matric for class 1 to 10 OR Select the Post Matric / MC/ Top Class for Class 11, 12, UG, PG etc., from the Scholarship Category and Select Scholarship Scheme if you want to apply for Scholarships OR Select Incentive Scheme if you want to apply for any incentive scheme and fill the form with required information and click on the register button.

  4. Click on Login to Apply Link

    After completion of new registration process, student will get a unique application ID and password through SMS on the provided (registered) mobile number. Now, you can click on the Login to Apply link on the home page. Then, Login for Fresh Application web page will appear in your device.

  5. Enter Login details

    In the login web page, student shall login to NSP using application ID and password which were received at the time of registration process and click on the login button. Here, the Girl student must change the password upon first login. This password has to be kept safely and confidentially. The Girl student can change the mobile number only before the first login, i.e. before changing the received password.

  6. Click on the Application Form link

    After clicking on the login button, an applicant dashboard will open. Now, click on the ‘Application Form’ to proceed with the scholarship application.

  7. Fill the Application Form

    After clicking on the application form link, application form web page will appear. The Application Form is divided into three Parts, i.e., Registration Details, Academic Details, Basic Details. Student should fill in all required details in the application form and Upload all supporting documents with the application form. Finally, click on the ‘Final Submit’ button.

  8. Print the Application Form


    After clicking on the submit button, your application will be submitted successfully. Now, print and save application form further reference.

NSIGSE The eligibility criteria are as follows:

  • Girl students who passed class VIII examination from Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (irrespective of whether they belong to Scheduled Castes or Tribes) and enroll for class IX in State/UT Government, Government-aided or local body schools.
  • All SC/ST girls who pass class VIII from all other Government Management Schools.
  • Girls should be below 16 years of age (as on 31st March) on joining class IX.
  • Married girl students, girls studying in private un-aided schools and who are enrolled in schools run by the Central Government like KVS, NVS, and CBSE affiliated schools are not eligible.
  • National Scheme of Incentives to Girls for Secondary Education: To establish an enabling environment to reduce the dropouts and to promote the enrolment of girl child belonging to SC/ST communities in secondary schools and ensure their retention up to 18 years of age.
  • To promote enrolment of girl child in the age group of 14-18 at secondary stage, especially those who passed Class VIII and to encourage the secondary education of such girls, the Centrally Sponsored Scheme. National Scheme of Incentives to Girls for Secondary Education was launched in May 2008.

The Scheme covers:

  • All SC/ST girls who pass class VIII and Girls, who pass class VIII examination from Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (irrespective of whether they belong to Scheduled Castes or Tribes) and enroll for class IX in State/UT Government, Government-aided or local body schools.
  • To be eligible for the benefit under the scheme Girls should be unmarried and should be below 16 years of age (as on 31st March) on joining class IX.
  • Married girls, girls studying in private un-aided schools and enrolled in schools run by Central Government like KVS, NVS, and CBS affiliated Schools are excluded.
  • A sum of Rs. 3,000/- is deposited in the name of eligible girls as a fixed deposit. The girls are entitled to withdraw the sum along with interest thereon on reaching 18 years of age and on passing the 10th class examination.
  1. What is the Objective of NSIGSE Scholarship?

    The objective is to establish an enabling environment to reduce the drop-outs and to promote the enrolment of girl children, mainly belonging to SC/ST communities, in secondary schools.

  2. How much is NSIGSE Scholarship Amount?

    According to the NSIGSE scheme, a sum of Rs.3,000/- is deposited in the name of eligible unmarried girls as fixed deposit on enrolment in class IX, who are entitled to withdraw it along with interest thereon on passing X Class and attaining 18 years of age.

  3. Who will be covered under this scheme?

    The NSIGSE scheme covers
    (i) all girls belonging to SC/ST communities who pass class VIII and
    (ii) all girls who pass VIII examination from Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (irrespective of whether they belong to SC/ST) and enroll in class IX in State Government, Government-aided and Local Body schools.
