List of universities approved for 2022-23 and onward for (ODL)Open and Distance Learning /distance education programmes in AP & TS Distance Education Bureau (DEB) of the University Grants Commission has released the list of universities approved for 2016-17 and onward for Distance Education Programmes in India and requested the students to take admission in the approved programmes and in approved institutions only.
The DEB advised the students that before taking admission to kindly go through the terms and conditions as given in the recognition letter and also various notices issued by UGC, regarding territorial jurisdiction of universities including establishment of examination centres, study centres/ off campuses, online courses and technical/professional courses, which are uploaded on UGC website and are available at the following links:
ODL means: Open and Distance Learning (ODL) is a general term for the use of telecommunication to provide or enhance learning. Around the world, the academic community is discovering and exploring the Internet, teleconferencing, and related means to achieve an extended classroom or learning experience.
Open and Distance Learning (ODL) system is a system wherein teachers and learners need not necessarily be present either at same place or same time and is flexible in regard to modalities and timing of teaching and learning as also the admission criteria without compromising necessary quality considerations.
ODL system of the country consists of Indra Gandhi National Open University(IGNOU), State Open Universities (SOUs), Institutions and Universities offering education and includes Correspondence Course Institutes (CCIs) in conventional dual-mode universities. This is becoming more and more significant for continuing education, skill updation of in-service personnel and for quality education of relevance to learners located at educationally disadvantageous locations.
