SIC 2021 is a School Innovation Challenge for TS Govt School Students. Education Minister has launched the poster for School Innovation Challenge for government school students. The programme is being jointly organised by UNICEF India in collaboration with Telangana School Education Department, Telangana State Innovation Cell (TSIC) and Inqui-Lab Foundation.
Latest Update: Innovative ideas of young children in government schools in Telangana, are no more just confined to the four walls of their classrooms. The Telangana School Innovation Challenge (TSIC), a unique initiative of the State Government to empower and nurture young minds in government schools, has now given them a platform that encourages them to identify challenges in their communities and create practical entrepreneurial solutions to address such difficulties.
The challenge was a top draw among state-run educational institutions, as 4,041 schools from 33 districts registered for the event. About 8,750 students and 7,093 teams submitted their ideas after completing the online course on design thinking. After several rounds of evaluation, 25 ideas were shortlisted and presented in Hyderabad.
TSIC is a collective effort by UNICEF, Telangana State Innovation Cell, Telangana School Education Wing and Inqui Lab Foundation that seeks to foster the young minds the innovation for problem-solving amongst school children.
The School Innovation Challenge, which aims to promote research and innovation among students at the school level, has received a special response. A total of 7,093 ideas were sent to the challenge by students from over 25,000 government schools across 33 districts of the state.
UNICEF, School Education Department, Telangana Innovation Cell, Inqui-Lab Foundation are jointly organizing this challenge. Jayesh Ranjan, Chief Secretary, Industries and IT, said that the grand finale will be held by the end of this month and the best idea will be selected.

School Innovation Challenge Competition 2021
Last Date for Nominations for SIC Competition 2021: The State Innovation Foundation has created a platform for students similar to the National Innovation Foundation. Teams of two students from each school were required to register at least two. The last date would be announced very soon on its web portal.
Invitation to innovations: Venue for Creative Exhibition – Innovation Cell: The state-level Innovation Cell was launched two years ago. It invites youth from rural areas to innovate in the making of various tools that can be used in everyday life regardless of educational qualifications.
Since last year, the district administration has been recognizing them at the district level celebrations on Independence Day and congratulating them on a good cause. Continuing this policy, the State Innovation Cell has set out another agenda to make students partners in Govt schools across the state.
The SCI Competition is organized at the school level by the Department of School Education, Telangana in partnership with the SCERT, UNICEF, and the Inquilab Foundation.
- Eligibility for SCI Competition: Students studying from class 6 to class 10 in all government and aided educational institutions in the state are eligible.
- Nomination Process: For this each school must nominate at least two teams. An active teacher who works to foster creativity and two students should be nominated.
- Online Registrations: The SIC first initiated the nomination process for teachers and made the nomination document registration details available on the Internet.
The teacher will be briefed on topic of ‘The School Innovation Challenge and Using the Technology Platform’ in the second week of September through Zoom or another media.
Telangana School Innovation Challenge
TSIC 2021 – Online Initiative to Nurture Creativity and Innovation for classes 6th to 10th of Govt., Local Body, KGBV, Model School, TRIES schools. All Upper High School Principals / HMs should nominate an active teacher for the above program.
Commissioner and Director of School Education have directed that this program should be conducted with special care. So, Principals and HMs can recognize its importance. Active Teacher Registration process must be completed through link which is given below.
An awareness meeting for selected teachers on the school innovation challenge and using the technology platform will be held in the week of September 2nd. Full details of the event will be announced at the above meeting.
Students and teachers should be encouraged to participate in the challenge. The last date for making registrations through the link is 05.09.2020. Mandatory registration of all Government, Local Body, KGBV, Model Schools and Residential Schools in the district.
The School Innovation Challenge 2020 that looks at nurturing innovation among the students from Classes VI to X will be panned out from September to December 2020.
School Innovation Challenge 2021
SIC To foster and penetrate the culture of design thinking and innovation, UNICEF India in collaboration with Telangana State Innovation Cell (TSIC), Govt Of Telangana will be initiating School Innovation Challenge for the Government High Schools across Telangana, for which Inqui-lab Foundation will be the Knowledge Partner.
The School Innovation Challenge Program intends to provide a platform to students from 6th to 10th grade on problem-solving methods and enable them to showcase their innovative solutions for the identified problem statements.
The flow of the School Innovation Challenge program would happen in the following hierarchy – From watching video tutorials by school students to activity-based problem solving, conceptualizing innovative solutions for the chosen problem statements, finalising top one innovation from each district across the state, and conclude through a Bootcamp for the 25 finalists followed by a Grand Finale.
SIC is to promote a culture of innovation and creative problem solving, TSIC in partnership with the UNICEF and Inqui-lab Foundation proposes to conduct a school level innovation challenge for the Government schools across Telangana.
The focus of the SIC 2020 is to introduce the children to the basics of Design thinking and Innovation as an approach to problem solving.

For Encouraging creativity in students, the government hopes that educational teaching will increase the idea of suggesting a solution to the problem.
- Students need to develop approaches to make the best use of their intelligence and abilities.
- The program helps to encourage students towards innovation from an early age.
- As part of the program, special training will be given to teachers and students of all public schools in the state.
- The training runs from September to December.
- Teachers should make all their school students partners in this program.
