New zonal system in Telangana for all departments & Police department. New zonal system comes into force in Telangana. The State government formed the new zonal system which would have seven zones and two multi-zones to facilitate recruitment and transfer of employees. The new zonal system is aimed at avoiding injustices done to employees in the combined Andhra Pradesh. It will also ensure adequate benefits to those living in local areas following reorganisation of districts.
Revising the zonal system had become necessary following the formation of Telangana State and the subsequent reorganisation of districts increasing their number to 31 from the initial 10. According to officials, the suggestions of employees and teachers’ associations, who met the Chief Minister and submitted their proposals, have also been taken into consideration while formulating the new zonal system.
The government has decided dividing the 31 districts into seven zones and two multi-zones and also inform the employees about other issues that came up for discussion at the meeting held by the Chief Minister.
The long-pending new zonal system has come into force in Telangana, as the government issued orders with the consent of the Centre, paving the way to fill vacancies in all government departments soon. T Govt issued orders on “Telangana Public Employment (Organisation of Local Cadres and Regulation of Direct Recruitment) Amendment Order 2021” under which the new zonal system for the police and non- police departments has been created separately.

Ending the long wait, the Central government approved the new zonal system proposed by the Telangana government for the recruitment of staff into State government services. A gazette notification was released enabling the State government to provide 95 per cent reservations in all the State-level recruitment to the people of Telangana State under the new zonal system. This will pave way for the State government to fill nearly 50,000 vacancies in different departments.
The Ministry of Home Affairs released a gazette notification which said that the Telangana Public Employment (Organisation of Local Cadre and Regulation of Direct Recruitment) 2018 had been amended and would be called Telangana Public Employment (Organisation of Local Cadre and Regulation of Direct Recruitment) Amendment Order, 2021.
As per a notification, two Multi-Zones comprising a total seven zones were created for all departments except the police department. The police department also has been organised into two separate multi-zones comprising seven zones which include all police commissionerates and district police headquarters as well. The seven zones are Kaleshwaram (Zone 1), Basara (Zone 2), Rajanna (Zone 3), Bhadradri (Zone 4), Yadadri (Zone 5), Charminar (Zone 6) and Jogulamba (Zone 7). While zones 1, 2, 3 and 4 would be part of the first Multi-Zone, the remaining three zones would be part of the second Multi-Zone.
Accordingly, all the upcoming job notifications and recruitment will be carried out as per the new zonal system. The new zonal system will facilitate transfers, besides recruitment of employees for state-level services. The new zonal system which was proposed by the State government in 2018, has already received the Presidential approval after Chief Minister met with Prime Minister and other senior Union Ministers and officials on the issue earlier.
