AICTE PG Scholarship 2023 for GATE/GPAT Candidates, Apply Online at aicte-india.org. All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) invites applications from GATE/GPAT qualified students for AICTE PG (GATE/GPAT) Scholarship 2023-24. The key objective of the scholarship is to ensure the development of technical education in India.
Online proposals are invited from AICTE approved Institutions for disbursement of Post Graduate Scholarship to the students admitted in AICTE approved programs of M.E/M.Tech./M.Pharm./M.Arch. through DBT for the 1st year students of the academic year 2020-21 having gained qualifying marks with valid GATE/GPAT score card.
Students who have qualified GATE, GPAT or CEED and are in AICTE approved institutes or programmes can apply for the scholarship. Interested students should be a full-time scholar. Students in their final year of dual degree integrated programmes would also be entitled to the scholarship from the ninth semester onwards, but their CGPA should be 8 or above (on a scale of 10) for their final year.
Objective of the AICTE PG Scholarship Scheme: AICTE in order to ensure development of technical education in India awards Post Graduate Scholarship of Rs.12,400/- per month to full-time GATE/GPAT qualified students admitted to AICTE approved post graduate programs in AICTE approved Institutions/ University Departments.

Amount of AICTE PG Scholarship: The Scholarship under the scheme is Rs.12,400/- per month per student. Duration: The Scholarship is tenable for 24 months or for the duration of the course i.e. from the date of commencement of classes till the date of completion of the classes whichever is lower and is not extendable under any circumstances.
Eligible institutions have been advised to verify the applications of their students immediately after receiving the applications on the online portal.
Eligibility for AICTE PG Scholarship:
Post Graduate Scholarship is entitled only to those students
i) Having a valid GATE/ GPAT score at the time of admission.
ii) Must be admitted as a full-time scholar.
iii) Admitted in AICTE approved Institutions / University Departments.
iv) Admitted in AICTE approved programs viz. Master of Engineering, Master of Technology, Master of Architecture and Master of Pharmacy programs.
Other Entitlements:
Students are eligible for following leaves:
- Casual leave : 15 days in an academic year
- Medical leave : Maximum of one month (30 days) in an academic year
- Maternity leave : Candidates are eligible for maternity/ Paternity leave as per Govt. of India norms issued from time to time at full rates of fellowship etc. once during the tenure of their award.
- However maximum duration of fellowship will not be extended in any circumstances.
Note: All kinds of leave should be approved at the level of the University/ College/Institute. Prior approval of the University/ Institution/ College is mandatory for all types of leaves.
Procedure to be followed by Institutes and students eligible for AICTE PG scholarship.
All the Institutes shall upload the eligible PG Student’s details on the AICTE portal on or before deadline and distribute student’s Unique ID generated by the system to all the PG students admitted in AICTE approved programs/ Institutions during 2020-21
All the students undergoing Post Graduate courses having valid GATE/GPAT score and admitted in AICTE approved programs/Institutions shall collect the Unique ID from the institute and the login at link: https://www.aicte-india.org/schemes/students-development-schemes/PG-Scholarship-Scheme for uploading the scanned copies of all original documents in JPEG/PDF format only.
Scanned copy of GATE/GPAT score card. Scanned copy of first page of Bank Passbook having the details of beneficiary, Name of the Bank, Bank account number, Branch name and IFS Code.
Note: Bank account should be Aadhaar active (Student to ensure with their bankers that data is shared by them with NPCI in annexure-I) and to confirm that the account is Active under UIDAI website: www.uidai.gov.in (Home screen>My Aadhar>Aadhar services>Check Aadhaar/Bank Linking Status>feed Aadhar number>feed OTP on RMN>get the status is Active)- “In-Active not permissible”.
Only Aadhar active savings bank account will be considered since the PG Scholarship is released through Aadhaar Bridge Payment System (ABPS) mode through Public Financial Management System (PFMS).
No-Frill Account, Jan Dhan account, Bank Account having limits on transactions/credits & Joint Account are not permitted. Bank account should not either be closed or transferred/shifted during period of course.
Scanned copy of the valid Category Certificate for SC/ST, OBC & Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) latest issued by the Competent Authority for OBC candidates only).
The Institute shall then verify the student data and approve his/her candidature on the portal. (Students verification) and approve for eligibility of disbursement of the scholarship. (Scholarship disbursement approval).
It may be ensured by the Institute that students personal details, bank details and date of admission/date of commencement is correctly filled in. All eligible students shall upload their information on AICTE web portal and the Institute shall complete the procedure of student data verification and approval for the eligibility for the receipt of scholarship on or before deadline.
General instructions for students:
Only GATE/GPAT qualified candidates are eligible for GATE/GPAT scholarship. Candidates admitted for part time courses are not eligible for GATE/GPAT scholarship
Bank account name and candidate name should be same. Joint accounts are not permitted for GATE/GPAT scholarship. Student must have general saving account in the bank. (Minor/no frills account will not be accepted)
Gate candidates admitted in engineering and architecture program and GPAT candidates admitted in pharmacy program alone are eligible for GATE/GPAT scholarship
Admissions before or after GATE/GPAT validity shall not be considered for GATE/GPAT scholarship. Creamy layer OBC candidates who had qualified under OBC category are not eligible for GATE scholarship
Candidates qualified under SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/Physically Handicapped not having authentic certificate are not eligible for GATE/GPAT scholarship
GATE/GPAT scholarship shall be given from date of commencement of classes/date of admission (whichever is later) to completion of courses/date of submission of thesis
The GATE/GPAT scholarship will be disbursed for a maximum period of 24 month or till completion of courses/date of submission of thesis whichever is earlier
Instructions for attachments:
Recent authentic non-creamy layer certificate[NCL] is required for OBC candidates (not more than 1-year old). Documents in support of SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/Physically Handicapped certificate shall be attested by the institute principal or gazetted officer
SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/Physically Handicapped certificate should be in Hindi/English otherwise it should be translated and verified in Hindi/English by notary officer or by the principal in institute letter head. Student shall upload both original and translated certificate.
All other attachments shall be self-attested by the candidate. Only clear and readable attachments shall be accepted.
Terms and Conditions:
i) The grant of Post Graduate Scholarship is subject to the condition that the student does not receive any financial assistance in shape of scholarship/any emoluments, salary, stipend etc. from any other source during his/her course of study in the Institute.
In case of receipt of any financial assistance from any other sources, the scholarship shall be discontinued and the entire amount of scholarship will have to be refunded to AICTE by D/Draft drawn in favour of “Member Secretary, AICTE” payable at New Delhi.
ii) Foreign students, sponsored candidates and candidates admitted in PG programs through management quota are not eligible for the Scholarship.
iii) It will be obligatory for every post-graduate student to undertake 8 to 10 hours (per week) of work related to teaching and research activities as assigned to him /her by the Institute.
This could include tutorials, laboratory classes, development and maintenance of laboratories, assistance in research and development activities undertaken by faculty members, maintenance and operation of Computers and other central facilities, assistance in library, etc.
iv) The Scholarship will be granted to the student on a monthly basis subject to the satisfactory academic performance and adherence to University/Institute norms/rules and regulations as applicable time to time, certified by the Head of the Institute and obligatory work as per point no (iii) above.
v) PG Scholarship is not admissible to passed out students taking 2nd time admission on the basis of re-qualifying GATE/GPAT exam who have already availed the scholarship from AICTE or any other centrally funded institution like – IITs, NITs and IIITs etc.
vi) The amount of PG Scholarship is subject to change as per the notification issued by Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), New Delhi from time to time, with the approval of the Executive Committee of the Council.
vii) The student shall be required to give an undertaking to the effect that he/she would not leave the course midway. In case any student leaves the course in midway or failed/ drop out in subsequent year, he/she will be required to refund the total PG Scholarship drawn at the time of leaving the course.
viii) The Scholarship may be discontinued at any time for any kind of misconduct by the student, like involving in the act of ragging, misbehavior etc. on the recommendations of the Head of Institution (HOI).
ix) Salary grant or any other grant e.g. Contingencies, Library, Books etc, will not be admissible to the Institute/College/ University implementing this scheme in compliance with the instructions of Govt. of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Deptt. of Higher Education, Technical Section – I conveyed vide letter No. F. No. 9-2/2007-TS.I dated 22nd July, 2008.
x) The mode and procedure of payment of Scholarship to the students shall be governed by the policy decision of the AICTE as may be notified from time to time on its web-portal or through advertisement in leading English/Hindi newspapers.
xi) Any belated claim preferred after one year of the completion of the program shall not be entertained.
xii) The AICTE may impose any other conditions as deemed necessary from time to time and the decision of the AICTE shall be final and binding upon the recipients i.e. University/Institute/College/Student who are under the ambit of the AICTE for receipt of PG Scholarship.
Eligibility: The candidates who have obtained a valid score in GATE/GPAT examination can apply. They must have taken admission in the 1st year of M.Tech./ M.E./M.Pharma/M.Arch. courses at an AICTE recognized institution in the academic year 2023-23. Prizes & Rewards: Rs.12,400 per month
Last Date to Apply: The last date for the submission of online applications under AICTE PG Scholarship Scheme is 28-02-2021 AND the last date for student verification by institutions including re-submitted defective applications at the AICTE web portal is March 15.
What are the document required to be uploaded by the student?
Students are required to upload to following documents:
a) Scanned PDF copy of GATE/GPAT score card.
b) Scanned PDF copy of the passbook
c) Scanned PDF copy of the Aadhaar card. Students of J&K, Meghalaya
and Assam are exempted.
d) Scanned PDF copy of caste certificate.
e) Scanned PDF copy of the Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) certificate in respect of only OBC candidates. Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) should not be old more than 1 year. Application mode: Online applications only
The candidature of the student shall be verified by the institution. The institute should ensure the personal details of the student, date of admission, commencement of course are filled in correctly.

Whether uploading of the data of Aadhaar card is mandatory?
Yes, as per Department of Higher Education notification, scholarships have to be Aadhaar seeded and payment done through the Aadhaar Payment Gateway. Therefore, bank account should be Aadhaar active.
How much amount will get under this scholarship?
Selected candidates will be awarded scholarship amounts every month based on their academic performance and adherence to AICTE PG scholarship rules and regulations. Under the AICTE PG Scholarship scheme, candidates pursuing Master of Engineering, Master of Architecture, Master of Pharmacy and Master of Design programmes from AICTE-approved institutions will get Rs 12,400 per month as a PG scholarship.
Which documents are required for applying?
For the AICTE PG scholarship, Aadhaar is a mandatory document. Any application without Aadhaar will not be accepted. Other documents mandatory for the scholarships include a valid Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) or Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) scores at the time of admission.
