Indian Space Research Organisation has launched a special program for School Children called the “Young Scientist Programme,” i.e., “YUva VIgyani KAryakram”(युविका) from the year 2019, in tune with the Government’s vision “Jai Vigyan, Jai Anusandhan.”
The Program is primarily aimed at imparting basic knowledge on Space Technology, Space Science and Space Applications to the younger ones with the intent of arousing their interest in the emerging areas of Space activities.
The YUVIKA program is thus aimed at creating awareness amongst the youngsters, who are the future building blocks of our Nation. ISRO has devised this programme to “Catch them young.”
The programme will last two weeks during summer holidays (second half of May), and the schedule will include invited talks, experience sharing by eminent scientists, facility and lab visits, exclusive sessions for discussions with experts, and practical and feedback sessions.

What is the ISRO Young Scientist Program?
The ISRO Young Scientist Program (YUVIKA) is a two-week residential training program conducted by ISRO to provide young students with an opportunity to experience and learn about the various aspects of space science and technology.
The program is designed to ignite young minds and foster a passion for space science among the next generation of scientists and engineers.
If any kid you know, studying in 9th or above standard, is interested in Science and Space, he/she can take part in the Summer Camp being organized by ISRO under the name YUVIKA in May 2025.
Enrollment is available only online. For further details, visit www.isro.gov.in. If selected, the child can opt to report at ISRO centers located in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Shillong, or Trivandrum.
YUVIKA—YUva VIgyani KAryakram (Young Scientist Programme): The ISRO Young Scientist Programme has been started with the broad objective of imparting basic knowledge of space technology, space science, and space applications to younger people.
Three students, studying in 9thStd, from each state and UT of India shall be selected. The programme includes two weeks of residential training involving four ISRO centers, viz. VSSC, URSC, SAC, and NESAC, and a visit to SDSC, SHAR.
Eligibility criteria
Those who have finished class 8 and are currently studying in class 9 can apply for the programme. Selection is based on academic performance, and students from rural areas have been given special weightage in the selection criteria.
The list of selected candidates from each state will be announced by the last week of March. Three students from each state/Union Territory will participate in this programme every year, covering CBSE, ICSE, and state-board syllabuses.
ISRO invitation to young scientists*: Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has released the Young Scientist Program (Yuvika) notification to educate students on space science. ISRO has launched science programs from this year under the name of Jai Vigyan, Jai Anusandhan, the Central Government Vision.
Students will be educated in three sections. The program will focus on space Knowledge, space science, and space applications. It will continue for two weeks in May. Three students from each state will be selected for this purpose.
