The Indian Institute of Science, IISC Bangalore has started its registration process for the Joint Admission Test for Masters, JAM 2023 at official website. The Candidates qualified for JAM Exam will be eligible to apply for admission to various master’s programs offered by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), and Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs) located across the country.

Students who have qualified for the JAM 2023 and have scored above the cut-off marks will be able to apply for the masters admission to MSc (Two Year), Joint MSc-PhD, MSc-PhD Dual Degree and other Post-Bachelor’s Degree programmes at the IITs and to the Integrated PhD programmes at IISc.

Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati will be conducting the JAM 2023 Examinations. The IIT JAM exams are set to be administered on February 12, 2023, per the schedule made public. The application procedure for IIT JAM will start at IIT Guwahati on September 7, 2022. Students can visit the official JOAPS portal to complete the online application for students interested in applying for admissions to the various IITs for M.Sc. admissions.
Exams for seven topics, including Biotechnology, Chemistry, Economics, Geology, Mathematical Statistics, Mathematics, and Physics, will be given at the IIT JAM in the computer-based mode. Multiple Choice, Multiple Select, and Numerical Answer Type questions will all be used in the tests. The JAM Scores will be taken into account for admissions to around 30 institutes, including IITs, NITs, IISc, DIAT, IIEST, IISER, IIPE, JNCASR, SLIET, and others, with a total of over 2300 seats.

Candidates seeking admission in a master’s program of the Indian Institute of Science, Banglore through JAM should have a bachelor’s degree. In the qualifying degree, the aggregate marks or CGPA/CPI without rounding-off (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) should be at least 55 per cent or 5.5 out of 10 for General/OBC (NCL)/EWS category candidates, and 50 per cent or 5.0 out of 10 for SC/ST and PwD category candidates.
As part of the registration process, for admission to the masters programme, the qualifying candidates of the JAM have to mention their choice of institution and programmes. Based on the choices filled, considering the number of seats available in different institutions and several other factors, IISc Bangalore will release three JAM admission lists to allocate the seats to the candidates in various participating institutions.
At the time of admission, a physical fitness certificate from a registered medical practitioner has to be submitted by the candidates. Admitted candidates will have to undergo a physical fitness test at the time of admission too. The fitness test will be organised by a medical board constituted by the institute. In case candidates are not found physically fit to pursue their chosen course, their admission will be cancelled. Those who complete the counselling process will be called for admissions to the concerned institutes.
The paper pattern will consist of objective type questions in the following pattern. The exams will be conducted for a duration of 3 hours where students will be required to answer multiple choice.

The competent body to conduct the JAM examination for admission to the academic year 2023–2024 is IIT Guwahati. At 21 IITs and IISc Bangalore, JAM is held for admission to MSc, joint PhD, and other programmes. The test will be held for 3,000 direct admission spots in different postgraduate programmes at IITs.
What is IIT JAM?
IIT JAM is for candidates who want to pursue MSc, PhD, and other postgraduate degrees offered at IITs and integrated PhD courses offered by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. Several National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs) also accept JAM scores for MSc admissions.
What is the eligibility criteria for IIT JAM?
Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree. In the qualifying degree for the General/OBC (NCL)/EWS category, the aggregate marks or CGPA/CPI without rounding-off should be at least 55 per cent or 5.5 out of 10. While for the SC/ST and PwD category, the cut-off is 50 per cent or 5.0 out of 10.
Exam pattern for IIT JAM?
The exam will be conducted in a computer-based mode (CBT) for three duration. There will be papers from seven subjects including Biotechnology (BT), Chemistry (CY), Economics (EN), Geology (GG), Mathematics (MA), Mathematical Statistics (MS) and Physics (PH). The exam will be held in two shifts – from 9.30 am to 12.30 am and from 3 pm to 6 pm.
