PCRA Competition 2021 on Painting, Essay Writing & Quiz for School Children. Petroleum Conservation Research Association invites children of Recognized Schools within India, affiliated to All Boards, Central or State, for a National Level Painting & Essay writing competition. PCRA is a registered society under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.

As a non-profit organization, PCRA is engaged in promoting fuel conservation and efficiency in various sectors of economy i.e. Industry, Agriculture, Transport, Domestic and Commercial in close cooperation with Public Sector Oil and Gas companies, Government and Non-Government organizations, Research Institute and Laboratories, Educational Institutions, Consumer Associations and other Organizations.

Education Campaign is used by PCRA as a communication tool to create mass awareness on the efficient utilization of Energy Resources using various modes of communication. Print advertisement, TV, Radio, Digital Media, Internet, Website, Transport workshops, Nukkad Natak, Driver Training Programs, Safety and conservation workshops, LPG clinics, Walkathons and organization of Essay and Painting competitions in schools, are an endeavour in this direction.

PCRA has developed various tips for fuel conservation in all sectors and the same is available on PCRA website: www.pcra.org and “PCRA Android App” from Google Play Store. Innovations and research findings are also available on the website.

PCRA Essay, Painting and Quiz Competitions: Kindly conduct the competitions at the earliest preferably in the Telugu language so as to increase the maximum participation.

Essay, Painting, Quiz Competitions: PCRA COMPETITIONS FOR SCHOOL CHILDREN under SAVE FUEL FOR BETTER ENVIRONMENT AND HEALTH

A. Painting Competition: School Level Painting Competition 2021 to be conducted by the School, for students of 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th for a duration of two hours. Schools are requested to advertise the topic for the Painting competition in advance, so as to enable the children to obtain information on fuel conservation from various sources. They may also visit the PCRA website www.pcra.org.

  • Only schools in India recognized by Central & State Boards of India, can participate.
  • It is mandatory for the Schools to conduct the competition during school hours in a fair manner (Principal’s certificate is mandatory).
  • Eligibility: Two categories:
    • Students of classes 5 – 7 (Junior)
    • Students of classes 8 – 10 (Senior)
  • School can conduct competitions in any one or both the categories. However, a minimum of 30 students must participate in each category in which the school submits its entry.
  • Use only A3 size art sheet. The work may be executed using pencils, pencil colours, crayons, water colours etc. Use of Collage/Patchwork is not permitted in the paintings at all levels of competition.

Competition Time Limit: 2 Hours and School is required to evaluate the entries for each category, and upload best two entries in each category (Junior/Senior), in which the competition has been conducted at the school, on www.pcracompetitions.org For more details, please refer to this portal.

The topic of painting competition may be displayed prominently, at least a week in advance. Schools can advise students to prepare in advance for the scheduled competition. This shall enable the participants to obtain relevant information from various sources. This exercise is focused on increasing awareness in young minds for the National cause of Conservation of Fuel and Environment protection.

It is advisable that the documentary on PCRA, which gives a brief on ‘Conservation of Fuel’ is shown to the children before the start of the competition. This is available on our website www.pcra.org

The students whose paintings are adjudged in the best 100 paintings in each category, on All India basis, will be invited to participate in a National Final round at Delhi. PCRA shall bear the expenses of travel, and the best 100 in each category shall be advised on the same.

The children can use Pencils, Pencil Colours, Crayons, WaterColours etc. The children may consider the following points while painting:
i. The relevance of the theme depicting the topic.
ii. Execution of concept/theme.
iii. Overall visual appeal, handling of given space and use of the appropriate colour combination.
Students must use the A3 size drawing sheet only. On top of the Drawing Sheet, students should mention.

B. Essay Competitions: Saksham’ National Level Essay Writing Competition 2021: School Level Essay Writing Competition 2017 to be conducted by the School, for the students of 6th, 7th, 8th & 9th for the one-hour duration. Schools are requested to advertise/publicize the topics for the competition to the participants in advance, so as to enable the children to obtain information on fuel conservation from various sources. They may also visit the PCRA website www.pcra.org. Weightage shall be given more to content, innovative/ unique ideas on conservation of Petroleum fuels.

1. Only schools in India recognized by Central & State Boards of India, can participate.
2. It is mandatory for the Schools to conduct the competition on school premises in a fair manner. It is requested that all eligible (maximum number of) students take part in this competition, as this is in National interest.

3. Schools to conduct essay competition in one or more of the following languages- Hindi, English, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarat, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Maithili, Dogri, Nepali, Bodo and Santhali.
Eligibility: Students of classes 7, 8, 9 & 10.
4. One student can participate in only one language.
5. The essay should not exceed 700 words.
6. The student must submit an essay in his/her own handwriting.

Time Limit: 1 Hour and School is required to evaluate the entries, and upload the best two entries in each language, in which the competition has been conducted at the school, on www.pcracompetitions.org. For further details, please refer to this portal.

Important Guidelines for Painting Competitions: The decision of the Jury/Expert committee appointed by PCRA will be final and binding in respect of all matters concerning the competition. Plagiarism may lead to cancellation of entry.

The entries submitted would be the sole property of PCRA, with right to use and right to edit for any purpose it considers appropriate. Children of employees of PCRA are not eligible for the prizes. Schools should try to hold the competitions and complete the evaluation as early as possible to avoid last minute rush in submission.

C. Quiz Competitions: Only schools in India recognized by Central & State Boards of India, can participate. This competition shall be conducted online through web portal www.pcracompetitions.org.

The schools shall register themselves on our portal www.pcracompetitions.org first and then they can register the names of all Students on the same portal www.pcracompetitions.org.

All the students can then participate as Individuals in First Round, i.e. School Level Round from their residence or school. Eligibility: Students of classes 7,8, 9 & 10.

Questions shall pertain to Fuel Conservation, Environment, General Studies and General Knowledge. It is requested that all eligible (maximum number of) students take the online quiz, as it will add to their knowledge and is in National interest.

Software will select the two best scoring participants, who will form the School team. The School team (two best scoring participants) shall then participate in the second round or State level round, by logging in the portal, sitting together at school/ convenient premises, in the specified period, for which detailed email will be sent by PCRA.

The shortlisted best school team (winner) at State level shall be informed by email by PCRA. This team shall participate in National round by logging in the portal, in the specified period, for which detailed email will be sent by PCRA.

The schools shall be informed / intimated about the winners at each level on the web portal itself as well as through emails.
