As per the TS School Academic Calendar 2022-2023, Sankranthi Holidays to TS Schools or TS School Sankranthi Holidays 2023 from January 13 to 17 (5 days). DSE has given orders on Sankranthi Holidays for TS Schools in Telangana.

In this order, the Telangana state government has fixed Sankranthi holidays for educational institutions in advance.

The Education Ministry has decided to give Six days of Sankranthi Holidays to public and private schools in Telangana state from 13-01-2023 to 17-01-2023. Telangana Schools will re open on the 18 January. The school education authorities issued orders to all the DEOs to take necessary actions and measures to ensure that all schools have holidays.

However, the missionary schools granted Christmas holidays are exempted in the case of Sankranti Holidays. Officials have stated that action will be taken against private schools which conduct classes on vacation. But, The Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education, TSBIE has declared Sankranthi holidays in junior colleges across the state from 14-01-2023 to 16-01-2023.

All government and private institutions are ordered to keep their classes suspended for these days. The colleges are to re-open on January 17 and have been warned by the Board to avoid running any classes in any condition during this period.

Pongal Holidays declared for all educational institutions from 13-01-2023 to 17-01-2023 in Telangana State. So, Telangana Government has declared Sankranthi holidays for all educational institutions in the State from January 13 to 17.

Makara Sankranti, also known as Maghi is a festival of Hindus, dedicated to Lord Surya or the Sun. It is celebrated in January every year and signifies the transit of Sun into Makara and end of the winter solstice. Also, Pongal is celebrated in the southern regions of India during the same period.

It commences on January 15 this year and ends on January 18. The festival is celebrated for 3 days and is divided into Bhogi, Sankranthi, Kanuma in AP and Telangana (Bhogi, Pongal, Surya Pongal and Mattu Pongal in Other regions).

Short Term Holidays for TS Schools

Telangana Sankranti holidays for Schools: All the government, local body and private schools across the State will have five days of Sankranti holidays from January 13 to 17. The schools will reopen on January 18.

As per the academic calendar issued by the School Education department for the academic year 2022-23, this vacation will be applicable to schools other than missionary schools.

Telangana Sankranti holidays for junior colleges: The Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TS BIE) on Saturday declared Sankranti holidays for all junior colleges under different managements in the State from January 14 to 16. The colleges will again reopen on January 17.

The Board instructed all junior colleges to adhere to the schedule strictly. It also instructed private unaided junior colleges not to conduct any classes during the holidays.

Second Saturday is Working Day – Second Saturday Working Proceedings: Proceedings Rc.No.90/ PIg – 1/ 2019 Dated: 08 .01.2020. CSE Telangana has given the Second Saturday Working Proceedings on January 8, 2020.

As per the new proceedings, all Government/ Aided/ Private Schools in the State of Telangana should work on Second Saturday working days i.e. 12.10.2019, 09.11.2019, 14.12.2019, 11.01.2020, 08.02.2020, 14.03.2020 and 11.04.2020 and also School Education Commissioner has instructed to all the District Educational Officers to take necessary action in this matter accordingly under intimation to CSE office. – Download Second Saturday Working Days File From Here.

As per the CSE Proceedings, Pongal/Sankranthi Holidays from 12-01-2020 to 16-01-2020 to TS Schools

The attention of the District Educational Officers’ and Regional Joint Director of School Education in the State are informed that the SANKRANTI holidays to all the Primary ,Upper Primary and High Schools in the state for the academic year 2019-2020 is from 12-01-2020 to 16-01-2020. The Schools should reopen on 17-01-2020. 

Therefore, the District Educational Officers and Regional Joint Director of School Education concerned are requested to issue necessary instructions to all the Head Masters of Primary ,Upper Primary and High Schools under their jurisdiction. The above instructions should be followed scrupulously. This ha got the approval of the Commissioner of School Education, Telangana State.

  1. Lifting of Second Saturday holidays till April is very pinching, & work is very hectic. Everyone of us plan to hv some personal works on the two consecutive days i.e Second Saturday & Sunday. Hence we request u not to cancel Second Saturdays holidays hence forth.
