Union Territories that INSPIRE Awards-MANAK National Level Exhibition & Project Competition (NLEPC) of the selected awardees from the State/ UT Level Exhibition & Project Competition is scheduled through a Virtual Platform where more than 600 participants from all States and Union Territories are expected.
INSPIRE Latest News, A total of 581 school students from across the country showcased their innovations at the 8th National Level Exhibition and Project Competition (NLEPC) under a government initiative aimed at fostering a culture of creativity and innovative thinking among children.
The eighth edition of NLEPC showcases innovative ideas of the students selected under the INSPIRE Awards – MANAK (Million Minds Augmenting National Aspiration and Knowledge) programme.
More than 1,000 students attended the online programme which will continue for five days. Department of Science and Technology (DST) secretary Renu Swarup said the country has created a robust ecosystem to nurture the creativity of young innovators.
There is a huge opportunity for young innovators to demonstrate their inherent potential. The whole purpose of the programme is to ignite a million young minds, making them part of the larger innovation-driven science and technology development within the country.
“MANAK connects students with bright ideas across the country and facilitates communication with the ignited minds. They put their ideas forward, discuss it with teachers and mentors and help solve problems of the common people,” she said.
The initiative, being executed by the DST in association with National Innovation Foundation (NIF), aims to motivate students in the age group of 10-15 years and studying in classes 6 to 10 to become future innovators and critical thinkers.
NIF chairperson P S Goel said, “Innovation is directly linked to our existence and influences every field of human activity. It is an accomplishment of at manirbharta (self-reliance) and acts as a key differentiator for economies.” The INSPIRE Awards – MANAK scheme is aligned with the ‘Start-up India’ initiative launched by the prime minister.

National Level Inspire Science Exhibitions Project Competitions Postponed or 8th NLEPC Postponed: Due to growing impact of COVID-19 on the country in recent weeks, the 8th NLEPC is postponed to a future date.
Right now their focus and priorities are aligned towards well-being and minimizing the impact of pandemic on their nearest and dearest. Once normalcy is restored, the future dates would be announced.*
Due to the current COVID-19 situation, the District, State and National Level Exhibitions are being conducted through virtual mode. DST has requested them to instruct the state level awardees to upload their project details in the ‘MANAK Competition APP’.
Students may click on the YouTube link (INSPIRE Awards MANAK User manual of DLEPC, SLEPC and NLEPC for students) to know about the procedure of ONLINE participation in the 8th NLEPC.
The District Authorities may instruct the School Authorities well in time so that the students may upload the ideas/innovations details (Photo, Video, brief description) well before the last date.
If for any reason, any state level awardee of your State/UT could not participated in the NLEPC and is desirous of participating this time, please share the list (Reference number, Name of the Student), along with a consent letter to participate in the NLEPC.

7th NLEPC 2019 details: 7th National level Inspire Science Exhibitions, Govt Of India, Ministry of Science and Technology, Department of Science and Technology has given instructions to all Principal Secretary/ Secretary (Education/ Commissioner of All-State / UTs for Organization of 7th National Level Exhibition and Project Competitions(NLEPC) under INSPIRE Award – MANAK Scheme
DST has informed that the 7th NLEPC of the awardees selected from State/UT Level Exhibition and Project Competitions (SLEPCs) conducted by respective States/ UTs is scheduled to be held during 14-15 February 2019 at IIT Delhi, New Delhi. MST and DST are expecting more than 800 entries from all the 36 States/UTs. 7th National level Inspire Science Exhibitions
This requires time-bound action on the part of States/UTs, particularly in sending the list of participating awardees along with a brief write-up in the prescribed format, making arrangements for travel of awardees and accompanying teachers/State officials and transportation of their projects from their respective places of stay to Delhi and back, arrangements for boarding and lodging and local travel at Delhi through your respective Resident Commissioners and so on.
The entire cost towards this would be borne by DST and the requisite amount as per norms would be credited to the account of State Nodal officer through one of the electronic modes of transfer. They may also like to take up the matter with your Resident Commissioner in Delhi in advance for making requisite boarding, lodging and local travel arrangement for the State Contingent either in your State Bhavan or at any other place(s) arranged by your Resident Commissioner. Advance action to book train tickets etc may also be taken.
In case your State/UT has not completed that DLEPCs/SLEPCs in respect of all the awardees of your state-sanctioned during 2017-18 and 2018-19. please ensure that the same is completed the latest by 25 January 2019 to that DST receives the list of all selected awardees of your State/UT for participation in the 7th NLEPC latest by 31 January 2019 positively.
DST would also request you to visit the exhibition any time during 14-15 February 2019 and attend the Award Ceremony on 15 February 2019 along with other senior functionaries of the State Government.
